I can’t play this game long-term without it, all I do is log in to see if I missed or caught the world boss that spawns 1 time during my timezone (if you have a job) and then log off.
I need the drama, the random spontaneity, the poorly spelt memes, the reading comprehension fails, the inaccurately quoted quotes, the rage, the tears, the ego, the depression, the lists of foods, the weed talk…I need the lifeforce it provides me to give me energy to stay logged in doing mindless tasks.
I don’t care if people hate seeing chat in their online game, keep all chat disabled by default if you’re worried about those types who only type “muted” like they matter.
Clans aren’t the answer to this either and they are extremely poorly implemented in this game anyway. Clans have a totally different purpose and lack of social freedom that squelches peoples shame that could be on full display like an open zone chat. Plus why limit yourself to just Clan chat when you got a whole world out there.
We need at least 100-150 minimum people per zone that can read it before making different zones people can join. Certain zone chats will unofficially get dedicated to certain languages or purposes to help people achieve their short-term goals.
You’re killing me Blizzard…2023…we all have mental issues and with all the crazy chats out there lets not forget those random diamond in the rough great conversations that happen too…I yearn for those moments.
The developers probably had a kneejerk reaction to the spamming of stuff for sale in the other games and over corrected for the onslaught of spam by removing the ability to zone chat entirely.
The developers are “software programmers” but 100% they are not players.
That’s the main reason to explain the disaster:
No endgame, No Chat, No trade, No social, Not a good interface, NO builds diversity,No matchmaking.
Season 1 will be only around cosmetic…(awaiting tonight to see if I will uninstalled this “game”)
I’m on my third day playing and it feels so damn lonely in this “MMO” I’m ready to quit. Haven’t met a single person, I think I run into 2 other guys out in the world in 35 levels. It feels like a dead game and the lack of a general chat makes it much much worse.
Clans are limited to 150 and I assume 75 of those accounts are dead characters that no one plays.
Why the hell would you want world chat it will be 95%+ people being toxic or people saying how much they hate blizzard and the game, I can’t see how it would add anything at all to the gameplay experience. If they add it it should be off by default otherwise it will ruin immersion for people. I know you could say ‘‘Well people can turn it off if they don’t like it’’ but people don’t. They will stay in it even if they hate it from some weird fear of missing out.
I agree, this game desperately needs a zone chat. More than just the 12 people in your instance. It needs to be active and scrolling so people can engage with each other. That would add a lot to this game and shouldn’t be hard to implement since chat servers can run independent of the servers we play on which means they can just group a bunch of servers together into one chat server.
I answered this in my original post. Have you ever played Overwatch? Thousands of people, wouldn’t be surprised if hundreds of thousands, quit that game because of how toxic it was. They could have just opted out but people don’t. They feel they have to be in it due to a weird FOMO or because being placed into it by default makes them think it is some important gameplay feature and then they grow to hate the game.
It doesn’t. I am in masters on OW and haven’t had voice or text chat on once the entire 6 years I have been playing it. They are not needed at all, the game tells you everything you need to know through voice lines and visual cues. The game would have retained more players if text and voice chat was friends only from day one. When the game was popular in 2018 that was the number 1 thing that was leading to people quitting in droves, how toxic it was.
I remember back in 2018 thinking that OW was an immersive masterpiece yet the forums were full of people saying they quit because of how toxic it was and it just made me realise it was a mistake ever adding comms with strangers.
Still extremely puzzling how they went with an open world MMO set up, then completely destroyed the possiblity of in game communites forming, no chat, no communication, apply blind to the guilds listed…16 people per game world…none of this makes any sense.
Its almost like someone walked in last second and went “hey now we cant have people interacting with eachother they might be mean or support politics we dont support, just turn chat off, theyll come in with their own friends or play alone”
FFS D3 made it easy to jump into a party and do content, there isnt even a LFG system.
Who ever had this idea should never work on an online game again.
