Look at Call Of Duty nowadays. Last few years. It’s all similar monetization model. Call it what you will.
oh, do you like that Battle Rifle? Or these other guns? Well, if you want to be on par with everyone else you need to use the guns that are in the Battle Pass this Season to be competitive. Weeks go by, then they nerf those guns. Repeat.
It’s the same thing going on here in D4. They pick and choose. I have no doubt in my mind they could easily "raise these numbers and lower this, raise those numbers and make sure this aligns with that, (it’s just extra work) we can have many many Builds to play.
We should be able to choose whatever Skills we want and still be in line with “the best for this Season”
This does not make the game feel fresh for me each new “Season” What would, is being able to play whatever Build I want. And saying “well you CAN play whatever you want” or “you could just play on an easier difficulty” or “well you just don’t know how Builds work” That’s all BS. And you know it is.
Class/Build/Skill Balance is the #1 thing. End Game content, well that’s their job to add to over time, if they choose too.
Let us play what we want Blizzard. You would make more money. More player retention.
