I just can't do MasterWorking anymore

Got to be over a hundred Horde runs or more, it’s A LOT, trust me and MasterWorking will just not let me Crit where I need it more than once. I get a Blue Crit on what I need sometimes and the other two just go totally random. Every time.

I’m tired of fighting with it.

Cleared Pit 125. I think I’m done for the Season. I think I’m just completely burnt out on farming Obucite.

so basically what youd expect from an rng system?

I’ve been pretty much repeating myself the last couple days on this specific topic. RNG at the Blacksmith is the worst type of gameplay there is. There should be a much larger up front cost, make it also take magic, rare, and legendary runes the higher up you Masterwork, but as a result of collecting all the materials, you get to CHOOSE which affix you want to improve.

This moves the RNG solely on item drops (as it should in an ARPG), and takes the RNG away from the Blacksmith. It also improves the value of Runes. Last time an ARPG put a lot of value into runes, we got the best ARPG of all time in D2. Although this rune system isn’t as good compared to D2, it would be a step in the right direction while also fixing a major end game flaw.

Nah man this system like everything else is wheighted…

Edit: why do you think everyone is masterworking/gem crafting starved, wheighted crap and crap tier mechanic designing to create player retention in a very toxic game environment instead of making the game fun and less stupidly gringy to a point where we want to kick babies into space… if devs made the game fun and stop making stupid rash decision no one asked for, people wouldn’t leave after 2-3 weeks and would enjoy the entire season… I guess they only want streamers playing thi pile of :poop:

RNG doesnt mean it’s random and equal chances.

It looks more like this: You roll a dice with 10 sides.

1-2 The good stuff you want.
3-5 The okayish stuff you can live with.
6-10 The bad stuff you don’t wanna have.

It would not be so bad if the cost was lower. As it is right now it’s cost prohibitive.

RNG means exactly RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR
Calling Diablo 4 system RNG is insult to all dice.

I know they were looking at changing Tempering as the scroll is just a temporary fix, although a little better, again, RNG at the Blacksmith is not creative or fun gameplay. Hopefully they look at both Tempering and Masterworking and find a way to eliminate the RNG from both.

CLEARLY you do NOT know what you are talking about AT ALL. I did a test and rolled to get something on my item. out of 4 things you can get on the item I rolled the same thing 4 times in a row MORE than once this kept happening and it is broken

The only RNG should be in Drops. Not in Upgrading everything. I’ll take the Enchanting and Tempering how it is now but MasterWorking needs no RNG. Masteroworking should be a high cost but guaranteed Upgrade system as long as you take the time to farm the Material.

The material grind change is really quite frustrating.

Last season a IH run could net about 1500 Neathiron or 13500 obucite.

I also agree with Vampiregoat, something feels funny/off about the rolling system. Way more repeats then one would expect even based on D4’s past experiences. The number of times to get the same temper roll 6 straight times is almost comical at this point.

The system uses weights. It looks ~ like this:

100 sided dice roll

  • 1-80 - 3 garbage affixes

  • 81-98 - 2 more random affixes that give you hope, but are also useless

  • 99-100 - Roll again, See table for results

  • Secondary roll

  • 1-80 see first table for results

  • 81-100 The good stuff

It seems like it might be decent odds, but it isn’t because of the nested rolls. In this example, getting “the good stuff” is around 1 in 250 attempts.

Roll another character/build.

I dont understand this Diablo-gamer only thing where people play one build, one character and then done. And then complain theres no content in the game. True ARPG gamers move onto new builds every 7-10 days after clearing all content. Multiple builds a league/season. Plenty to discover and experience from a different lense.

I just think there’s too many RNG layers in general. Loot - RNG, enchanting - RNG, tempering - RNG, masterworking - RNG.

There needs to be more generosity. I shouldn’t come on the forums and see 10 out of the first 15 posts be about materials and crafting. It’s a video game, people should be having fun and only complaining that they still haven’t gotten the perfect greater affix item yet.

Gatekeeping how people play video games is probably one of the lamest things anyone could possibly admit to :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Well goofball, if the system to get a character decently up and running is an RNG fueled, frustrating, time consuming grind…why on earth would anyone want to subject themselves to it more than once?

Most people would love to roll alts, experiment with builds, but alas don’t feel like investing another 60+ hours to do it on the same mind numbing content that leads to nowhere in the end.

Beng able to clear Pit 125 is already an achievement. The MW is really just RNG. If
you really need to push that bad, well, of course, you’ll be at the mercy of RNG. That’s just how things are.

On the other hand, until you’re Para 300, you still got time

Who is gatekeeping how you play?
Not sure that word applies here.

Well, goofball, then the “other arpg” is at your disposal isnt it? Full with content yes, but loads and loads of grind, loads of currency requirements to craft good gear, etc. Its kind of like…an arpg thing. Grinding.
