the Book of the Dead is definitely the most interesting and fleshed out of all the enchantment systems. It’s not tedious to unlock, and gives you a bunch of different ways to customize your minions (or even forgo having minions to power yourself up)
So, the Paladin/Crusader/Templar/whatever class should get something structured like that. Maybe have it be like the Mantras or Laws from D3’s Monk and Crusader classes (holy Aura buffs that are auto-casted and affect your entire party).
It fits perfectly in the Book of the Dead enchantment structure
a section for party wide defensive buffs, another for resource buffs, and one for offensive buffs
Of course, like the book of the dead, you could forgo the Tenants of Akarat and sacrifice your party wide holy aura buffs for personal buffs
Its too late for that. They missed the opportunity for Classes to have group abilities.
D3 had better class/spell system than D4.
D4 is AI made crap with 0 innovation or love put into.
Well there are Incense that could be used as a base for the coding
then flesh it more out to be a more interesting aura buff than just +25 Willpower
If it’s a Crusader class 1 for 1 copying lore from Diablo 3 for the Aura’s it’d be something like this:
Tenants of Zakarum (book of the dead, renamed)
Laws of Hope (starts out unlocked like Skeleton Warriors)
Laws of Valor (unlocks at level 15 like Skeleton Mages)
Laws of Justice (unlocks at level 25 w/ quest like Golems)
Laws of Hope
Grants +25% HP to party |Grants +15% Armor to party | Grants +10% Resist all to party
Laws of Valor
+24% damage to party | +16% Attack Speed to party | +8% Critical Strike Chance to party
Laws of Justice
+18% Movement speed to party | +12% Resource cost reduction to party | +8% Cooldown reduction to party
Just like the book of the dead, you’d get one aura from each category
the buffs wouldn’t stack of course, but with three Paladins in the party you’d theoretically be able to have all 9 auras buffing you at once
The Paladin would also be able to forgo the buff like the Necromancer’s “Sacrifice” mechanic that deletes their minions in place of a strong personal buff
to balance this, Paladins would need like a reverse of the “Memento Mori” and “Stand Alone” skills from the Necro class
where the Paladin gets like Damage Reduction or something for having the Auras helping party members (to prevent every single Paladin just being greedy and shutting off their Auras)
I would love for their to be actual functional support roles in D4 and having a reason for them. I would love to have dungeons or raids that actually required support specs to succeed. I think that would be amazing.
Just give him D2 auras adjusted for D4.
My favorite build in Diablo 3 was the Inna Monk set, it was the build that gave you all the Mantras at once… but even that felt pretty half-baked since the base Auras effects weren’t amazing, all the real power was in the Rune effects (and you only got one of those)
I’ve always wanted like a support Wizard class with Haste spells and enemy debuffs or like a Bard; but those are kind more DnD than Diablo… and would be awful for the solo players.
That’s why I would like a Book of the Dead system enchantment system for the Paladin.
When you don’t need your minions as a Necro, you can turn them off for a massive buff to yourself
So the same would be true.
If you’re not in a party, you can just turn off your Auras to buff yourself a little more.
Then if you’re in a party with another Paladin, you’d be easily able to respect your Auras in seconds to make sure you’re not overlapping any buff.
If they add paladin I hope they add something else too. Paladin is boring AF.
Other classes have multiple elemental types - I would love to see the Holy Warrior have diabolic powers to be a Unholy Warrior, or someone who walks in the middle. And have some spear skills so that class could be the amazon too.
good, im a solo player. dont want to need a mix of classes to clear content or if you do decide to group people are forced to pick class diversity instead of what they want.
Something like that could work with the Book of the Dead style enchantments
it could be an option to turn off your holy auras for a more sinister/evil effect (like Vulnerability/Bleed/etc)
although the lore would be pretty silly when you consider the player character would be constantly swapping between holy and unholy to min-max the buffs
Making a big assumption that we’re even getting something like this with the expansion. I’m not saying we won’t, but I’m not convinced we are either until I see something more concrete.
