I hate what they did to Lightning Storm

LS does not preserved the lightning stack. The only way to get it work is to have LS at maximum stacks. If you don’t have the spirit to cast it 5 times you are revert back to single cast…

it’s kinda bugged? the character gets locked on animation and even keeps channeling when you dash, it feels awful…and the new unique was for lightning storm, well…no need to try it out

LS really sucks now for leveling. Why did they mess with it??

What did they change exactly? I’ve been using it to level, and it preserves the size for 6 seconds like the tooltip says.

When it grows to 5 or 6, doesn’t it still cost 16 spirit, or is it 16x5 for the preserved cast.

previous you channel it to 2 lightning strikes and hold it for 6 sec, every time if you tap the mouse button.

it is common druid knowledge that 2 strike can hit one target, on every mob model size. so this way you double youre single target dmg with lightning on boss/champion fights, especially on human size bosses .

if you channel it to 5/6 strikes, only one strike will hit, depending on mob model size.

in this season if you channel it up to 3 strikes, tapping will reset it to 1 strike…

Oh, I didn’t even notice that was happening. That is very silly indeed.

Yeah just tested it changed. Was this in the patch notes or Ninja.

was a hotfix they just did a few minutes ago.

All i wanted was a good lighting storm build without having to be that stupid looking wolf. So far my results now that I’m lvl 50 in wt3

  1. I seem to be able to actually kill a boss now so that’s cool.
  2. I now have a horrible time trying to kill packs and die to trash mobs constantly… so they literally broke LS ability to do what it should be great at which is melting huge packs.
  3. I’m still out of spirit in less than 2seconds and spend most of my time trying to fight things with my basic skill doing zero dmg.
  4. Lightning storm still strikes the ground and not enemies 70% of the time. Like imagine playing your hota barb and only 3 out of 10 hammer strikes do damage. Yeah that’s what playing LS druid is.
  5. A huge fix that needs to happen yesterday is make the lightning strikes auto target enemies. Only 1 enemy? No problem. All the lighting funnels to hit that one target. Too op? Easy fix. You do a little less damage the less targets LS strikes.

  1. hotfix is now on the way
  2. later with proper paragon build and a few ressource gen on your items, you should spend much less time on basics, to gain spirit, even without a wolf costume build.
  3. if slay through hordes of trash and champions best channel stack is to 3 strikes and then tap it from there on, most of the time all strikes should hit
  4. This is the change that every lightning druid wishes since beginning of d4

Looks like they hot fixed it today, so now LS once again is the most hype build of the season. Visually gorgeous!

I have a question about this. So for single target, you should increase strikes to 2 and then keep it there? Or would you increase it further if it’s a giant mob (world boss, Malphas). I didn’t know I was wasting so many strikes by channeling to 5 on boss fights

If only someone from Blizzard looked at these forums….spot on.

Oh nice they fixed it!!

Channel to the max, all strikes will hit on Worldbosses only

Channeld to 3 Strikes, all strikes can hit a Balrog sized mob and similiar sized champions/bosses, but the 3th strike can sometime miss and even more often, if the model size is smaller then a balrog

Channeld to 2 Strikes, a tap will always hit mobs unreleated to its size

So for lazynes channel it to 3 strikes and then hold it there for all engagments, exept worldbosses and 3+ champions if they are somewhat stacked

See, thats the problem. I dont want to be miserable the whole time I’m playing until I’m 10 levels away from 100 and then go…oh ok it doesn’t SUCK now. All the other classes are fun to play THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH. Druids literally have to get to 90-100 before they even get a HINT of enjoyment playing.

For me it was bad until WT3 where I got the new unique gloves. Those are definitely a game changer for lightning storm Druid. Getting there is still a bit on the painful side, but that’s just how the class is built unfortunately. At least you don’t have to wait until level 80+ to have fun anymore.
