I hate masterworking. Blizz, please. PLEASE

Not that anyone cares, but I guess I’ll just scream into the void because masterworking is my least favorite thing. I like games with grinding, obviously, or I wouldn’t play D4 to begin with. I like going around and murdering things (especially treasure goblins because they are shiny and it makes my black heart happy). But masterworking? Seriously.

I play with a friend, and now that we’ve gotten pretty much the best gear possible for 925 and have to start masterworking to make gear better to get more gear that’s better to get… you get the picture, you know how it goes; it’s a part of the game, but the journey has gotten tedious and boring.

Grinding the pit over and over and over and over again just isn’t fun, especially when you only get half the materials if you aren’t the one who started it. (Yes, yes, the person who started it is “paying” for it, but do we really have a shortage of materials? I could contribute! FFS.)

I don’t want to run the pit. If I wanted a timed run, I’d do the thingit in Gea Kul.

Maybe my game play is just too casual for D4, but I’m just booooooored. I really hope they look into masterworking and consider just how tedious it can be to the average player.

Look, Blizz, I just want to kill stuff in an enjoyable way.

The Maiden, the world boss, legion events = yes. They’re cooperative, they’re fun, they drop some good things.

The Pit? BOO. Big old BOO. Masterworking? Same. Tempering? Ehhhh, I don’t like it, but at least you get a few tries and the materials are attainable.

There. Screaming into the abyss.

Time to find a new game until next season, I guess :frowning: (I know, I know, sadface, Blizz can’t afford to lose a sIngLe pLaYer. )

Blah blah blah.

If anyone at Blizz actually looks at these and considers feedback, pleeaaaaase consider adding other ways to get masterworking materials (especially multiplayer options!).

Thanks, and #sorrynotsorry for the ramble.

i agree with u hate the pit to upgrade gear wish it would go back to the way it was

Run your own Pitt instead of leeching off your friends? Push higher tiers so you get more mats per run. You said you like grinding in games, well this is textbook grinding. If you’re too casual for this (your words), then dont do the Pit. You can get you masterworking to 8/12 with relative ease in terms of material use, and it will take you to like 90% of gear optimization. The last 10% require the most work, and you really dont need top tier gear, if you’re not gonna push the most challenging content in the game. There’s plenty other content to keep you occupied. Or just play a different game if you’re not having fun.

I don’t mind running The Pit, what I hate is the way the affixes seem to be weighted. I’m trying to Masterwork my gloves (Strength, Life, and Attack Spd [greater affix]). Just upgraded it to lvl 4 six times after resetting. Out of those, 5 times it rolled Life and once it rolled Strength. Not to mention the 2 Tempers that could have critted Can we fix this BROKEN system please? I know we need a gold sink, but come on Blizzard! 5/6 times it rolls the same thing? Seems rigged to me.

By broken system you mean rng? That’s not broken lol. You just got unlucky.

lol - I guess you’re not Masterworking yet. :joy:

12/12 on all my gear, on 2 different characters too. I dont know what you mean is broken, I managed to get +6 Golem mastery on my necro’s chest piece with only a few resets and same thing with +6 Hellbent Commander on ammy. Both of those are GAs. All the gear that has attack speed like rings and gloves all crit rolled too, with very minimal rerolling.

People are so very quick to come up with conspiracy theories that the game is “rigged” lmao. The gamer paranoia is real. If it’s upgrading wrong affixes for you, then you rng luck is trash, that’s all there is to it.

Found a nifty little work around. Re-enchanted the Life roll that crit at lvl4, Turned Life into +6.5% Crit Chance, but when I applied it, it came out to +9.1% Crit Chance. Turned my lemons into lemon squares! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You just did that by labeling OP as conspiracy theories by your own words “People are so quick to come up”. Using a coin phrase isn’t a good thing because there’s a lot of negavitvity center around that phrase and historically many inncoent people were punish this way. It will be best to know the origin and to know what it means when a phrase is coin. The meaning isn’t what you believe it to believe.

If OP find it rigged then OP is vald to stated it that doesn’t mean it is fact.

This seems like a place to put this thought, but what if the Masterwork Reset was split a little, instead of an all or nothing affair?
Ex.

Go 4 upgrades back-10 mil, triple current mats required

Reset whole thing-current cost as is(maybe a reduced)

-Functionally this can already be done for the first crit, since it’s only 100 obducite, this only proposes that it be allowed for each Masterwork Crit

-This would all some progress to be kept, allowing players to feel progress made, while also keeping the grind at the Pit. 20% will always work out differently for people’s RNG.

Would this make it more bearable?

ill take masterworking over tempering. at least masterworking i can pay to reset the item but i never get that far with worth while items because tempering bricks it
