I guess the game director doesn't care about solo players

I won’t bother to sum this up because it got me mad so here’s the article, it’s short:

I disagree with what he said. The game does railroad you into DC, you literally get a quest to do it when it resets. It can pop up as a whisper. And it’s the only way to get some of the only cool cosmetics that aren’t in the shop. + Fundamentally it is a major, most complex piece of content which would be fun for me, if I could just do it solo. But being forced to group up - I hate very second of it, and I’m hoping to struggle through it and get the cosmetics before I give up on the game.

Also I don’t get why they’re saying DC reception was good. Because people who already like raids in other games liked it? Or maybe because suddenly after releasing DC the number of people who group up went up? I wonder why it is. Maybe, just maybe it’s the case because you literally have no choice but to group up? For all they know there could be a ton of people who hate doing it but they want the cosmetics and since there’s no choice, they have to group up. And like I said, the game does actively suggest DC to you. The only true test of how many people want to do DC in a group would be if there WAS a solo option, then they could see how many people truly want to group up.

What would it hurt if they allowed DC to be soloable? Seriously. The whole thing doesn’t even require 2 people in most cases anyway. For the most part you only need 1 person to step on a plate from time to time so you can open the door. It’s not like it’s a meaningful mechanic anyway. I’d much rather just step through one door, do everything inside, get ported back and do the same thing behind the other door that another player would normally do. I don’t care it would take longer I want to do it solo. I enjoy beating content solo. I enjoy knowing that it was actually me that completed something, or killed a boss, and not other people.

I hate it. It makes me want to just quit and as much as I always disliked poe, at least it seems they respect solo players.

Because it was fun. Good to change things up every now and then. Looking forward to more content.

Since rewards are cosmetics its optional content

Yes. One of the reasons still playing D3 and WoW everyday.

good he sticks to it. not everything needs to be changed because a group of people is throwing a tantrum.

if people quit because of optional content, it would have been a matter of time til they would have done so anyway.

I didn’t touch the co-op area this season.
/edit
I think I did the quest leading to it though.

Ignoring player feedback to chase a hypothetical audience that may or may not exist is very Diablo-like.

The Dark Citadel is cooked in S7. Everyone already got their cosmetics and there’s no reason to keep running it, especially not when it will be orders of magnitude harder without the spiritborn doing quintillions of damage.

I won’t be touching co-op until the devs can control the duping.
it’s that simple. at this point I feel the duping is hard coded in or they just keep copy/pasting code from their repositories with those exploits in it.

Sbs were never needed for the DC lmao.

They’ll probably have new cosmetics come season 7. Which means I’ll get the clan to do one series of runs through it before they get bored of the season. Assuming I can pry them away from PoE2.

The spiritborn was not strictly needed to do boss rotations either. But the name of the game is efficiency and no one will want to struggle through the Dark Citadel when it was an easy faceroll this season.

thats implying that other classes struggled, which isnt the case lol.

Maybe not on normal difficulty, but on T4 it’s a massive slog without the spiritborn.

mmmm… I’ve never done the Dark Citadel and I never will. I just don’t care about forced multiplayer content. I don’t care about the rewards and none of it. That said, I don’t mind other players doing this content if they want to. Have at it. Enjoy and it does not impact me what-so-ever.

I will seek out content that suits me better, no worries at all.

I suspect there won’t be a spiritborn in my DC party for S7. I suspect it’ll be my druid and my girlfriend’s sorc… and maybe a couple necros from the forums (you know who you are).

An entire interview for what exactly? For 1 comment regarding 1 mode most players don’t have access to anyway?? :joy:

Other than that, everything’s jolly well according to top management, isn’t it? Good for them. Not so for D4 players, but that’s how it goes I guess :man_shrugging:

If only there was ANY competition just around the corner :eyes:

Ps. Stick to your guns, Brent. That’s so brave of you :joy:

How are you railroaded into the DC? There are no mats or gear exclusive to it at all other than some weak cosmetics.

Storm in a tea cup really.

They will fail to convert solo players into this forced group BS and I swear Rod is such a clueless moron about endgame THEY HAVE NO ENDGAME. Their gaming scheme is so pathetic at best so if they want to continue to stick to their guns about the direction they are going then go ahead I hope they beat this dead product so hard into the ground they will need to find a new job afterwards. I will always be a solo player for life
