Chances are I won’t be browsing this thread or reading/replying to responses. But just on the off chance anyone from devs is actually taking any level of feedback from this place I just want to put my two cents in on this. I’m sure there are people that will disagree with me, and I am aware I’m not speaking for everyone, but I do believe I’m speaking for more than myself when I say this.
I can afford multiple games. I have Gran Turismo for Racing, Ace Combat for aerial fighting. Soul Calibur for fighting and Civilization for strategy.
And while I wouldn’t object having racing or flying or arena fighting or unit management in Diablo 4, it’s not what I come to Diablo 4 for. I come to Diablo 4 for the same reason I came to Diablo 1, 2, and 3. I come to it to have a gritty dark action RPG experience. Dive through dungeons, get loot, slay ancient evil. if I want to be in a party, or take on dungeons and raids and world activities in a team, well guess what, I’ll boot up Final Fantasy XIV. And just like with other games I mentioned, while I do not mind party and group related activities in Diablo 4 as I believe more options is always a plus, it’s never what’s going to bring me to Diablo 4. But excessively pushing me into it in Diablo 4 is what’s going to get me to quit Diablo 4. To use a food analogy, there’s only so many times you’re gonna go to a steakhouse for a steak and have them keep pushing their new vegan dish before you stop going to that steakhouse.
Dark Citadel didn’t need to be a team-only experience. But whatever, you want to do that, fine, I don’t have to engage with it. But having this push for team-related objectives in seasons, this has to stop before it goes any further. People that want to play in a team can play in a team, people that don’t want to play in a team don’t need to be forced into a team.
And this particular objective for example, Roots Ablaze, you’re not being clever. I’ve played videogames long enough to know when I’m being corralled, but it’s not having the effect you’re thinking it’s having. When I have to compete with strangers to pop 25 roots in 15 minutes. and I’m 14 minutes and 30 seconds in and I’ve got 24 roots popped and someone runs through on the horse and pops the root three feet in front of me and I time out of the objective. It doesn’t make me this “Oh, maybe I should team up with someone” like you intended me to, it makes me think " I hate this game."
Please stop trying to corral people into something most of us didn’t buy this game for, you’re going to corral us right out of the game.

And if there was any question why most people don’t want to socialize or interact with the community. Because everyone expects this kind of garbage to be on the other side.

I’m not sure about the objective : Roots Ablaze
“Open 25 Exposed Roots within 15 minutes during Manhunts in Torment 4”
Since I’ve never intended to do this and I was so sure I never completed it but it’s completed already somehow.
By the way, I hope the objectives should not be hectic like many console trophies. they shouldn’t have time limit or compel players to party. I like solo. I hate when I join parties, and most of the time, one member will act strangely or reject any dungeon votes.

I understand your position but have to say, especially this achievment is very easy. If someone wants it, it is doable in 10 min.
also you don’t need to be in a party for the season journey. Bcs you only need 11 out of 14 for example. Ignore the things, you don’t like and there is no problem beside the Citadel, that by the way, you do not have to do. It is optional.

So… you don’t want friends and you don’t want competition?
I get it, but it’s a long-winded way to say “I want single player Diablo”.

So I don’t understand why you’d complain about one dark citadel run, but I think some of the forced grouping in the season journey is stupid like “slay the world boss in a party”

Friends I don’t mind. It’s the random pick up groups that suck. You are just a few pixels on the screen that don’t matter. Either they boot you because you are not equipped with L33T gear or just before you can loot after some activity.
Yet they double down on forcing this into the game. Kinda like duping and RMT. No response other than a passing comment and nothing changes. Really disappointing (I am being nice) from a supposed AAA game company.

I like the Party Finder. It has been a great addition to the game for me and I have been using it a lot. To be more precise, I have been using it a lot but only once I am done levelling my character and can comfortably join others for group activities. I can do it now when playing Eternal but not yet when in Season because I want to do the levelling and finish the season objectives at my once pace, not be forced into groups when I feel I am not ready.
I didn’t pay attention to the fact that some of the season objectives are to be completed in a Party. I am probably not there yet. I am not really pleased with that. I just hope I can complete enough objectives to move to the next level without them. If not, I guess I will stop playing seasons.
Well OP the immense number of 3 objectives in 3 different journey chapters is not that big of a deal. First this means you can ingnore these and still complete the journey. Second 2 of these are realy easy to deal with, you just hang around in the event area, click a dude to be in a party, no questions are asked and no communications required. You do the event and leave the party. The 3rd is the frustrating one I’ll admit, if you wan’t to 100% the journey, doing the lair bosses while in a party is where my eyebrows flew off my head.

just run in solo and within a few runs somebody will ask you to group up. agree and get the achievement. (think i got this on my first worldboss and knew i was going to get it this way eventualy)
also, there’s no BIG reward waiting for us if we complete all the quests (just get enough to unlock the next and you’ll get the spark at the end)
wasn’t there a PvP one you had to do in a previous season (again, optional as the others could be done solo) i don’t think they are trying to disadvantage solo players but rather try and promote coop (i like to play solo too… but there’s other players who like a more MMO feel. and if blizzard can have the best of both worlds, i’m all for it)
sucks that the citadel is coop only (and the only RL friend that plays diablo isn’t online much) but it’s not as i’m locked out of it (partyfinder) so i can still do it if i REALY want too

I do like mmo-feel, just thought this one was just a bit random

I have played the game as single player since it came out because it is single player. Heck, even Blizz isn’t trying hard enough for it to be a social game because they refuse to put a highly requested auction house into the game, and the chat windows and mechanics are from a first time dev. They clearly don’t want this to be a social and group game by the lack of effort on their part. I’m fine with that.

Look at you, contributing absolutely nothing to the community other than blatant toxicity. This was a fairly written piece speaking objectively about an issue they have with the game. No “wine” anywhere.

You don’t understand the company’s policy.
They don’t care about your friends. Really.
They need your friends so that you can buy add-ons that will add group activities, because if at least one of the 4 friends buys an add-on, the rest will have to do the same for joint participation.
It’s as banal as life.
TLDR
I don’t want to make friends with you either
Indeed. It seems that Blizzard no longer wants customers like us anymore which is fine, we’ll just take our time and dollars elsewhere.

With the exception of the Citadel, which hardly anyone plays, there is nothing that excludes solo players. Diablo has had a multiplayer function since D2, almost 25 years. As annoying as you find group players I find the crybaby solo players just as annoying…
True but they also added in forced grouping for some of the battle pass objectives in S7 so it’s impossible to get 100% completion now if you’re a SSF player. Not a big deal per say, but it’s just another nail into the coffin.
