I don't understand the purpse of AoZ

Pro tip, there is no random 1 shotting. Just bad builds.

The point of AoZ, like everything else that grinds in this game is meant to squeeze every bit of playtime out of you to inflate shareholder metrics. The more you play, the better the game looks statistically, despite low ratings for the game and the overwhelming frustration for die hard fans who want to love the game.

Now blizz has been open about AoZ being extremely difficult, and not for everyone. And that’s the frustrating thing, people want endgame content and something challenging but balanced for players. But AoZ was tuned for the broken OP classes, not my take on it, that’s what blizz said. And people are hardcore farming what they can to level up the glyph, and hoping RNG will benefit them towards the end with the seekers. And tbh thats the worst thing about it. When RNG factors in AoZ to get a kill, it makes leveling up the glyph extremely tedious when it’s difficult to reliably farm anything above a 9 or 10. Trash will be a cakewalk, but by the time you get to the seekers they’ll either blast you to death or the affixes they have will keep them teleporting or flying all over the place. This isn’t a question of “getting good”. This content is reliant on way too much RNG and it’s frankly trash, and I think devs know that. No design choice made in the game from the beginning had to have been by accident and that’s the sad part. It was worth more to Activision blizz to milk us dry for money rather than make a good game. Then by the time you realize the game sucks, it’s too late to request a refund.

You know those little things they sometimes have at pet shops, the enrichment toys for mice and other rodents? Just because its a video game doing the same thing over and over again is just that.

I think the other half of it is if they convince you to spend more time in one game, it will mean more to you from the commitment, increasing the chance you’ll pay for expansions, battle passes etc.

I can’t fathom why someone would do the same thing over and over again so can’t really speak from that perspective. I think i hit level 81 the other day. Also the fact that people are asking that means its not necessarily something fun to do for those that try so the above is probably it.

The aoz glyph grind was pointless tedium. I had more fun in wow farming islands for AP for 9000 hours.

That not even challenging content imho, you can clear it under 5 mins when you get your ToB to 200, that just too tedious to get that lvl 200 glyphs…if u’d achieved that still you 1-2shot everything except the seekers

Yep.

The idea is it’s a testing ground and point for future content so at the moment they don’t care about what it does or drops.

They just want to see if it’s used and how it’s used as a stepping stone for something later.

Let’s just pray that they learn something fun and useful for endgame.

I don’t know what the purpose is from Blizzard’s perspective, but for me it’s the peak end game challenge after getting the proper build and gear set up from doing everything else in the game (I should say grinding everything else in the game). It’s also what I use to factor WHICH build and gear is best to tackle it and adjust as I go. At this point everything else is just a grind to be able to beat AoZ.

AoZ makes more sense when you look at it from the perspective of what it is. Future content. AoZ wasn’t designed for S2, it was just repurposed. I did a whole breakdown of how we can see its future content shortly after it released.

But that kind of grind is already so tedious without a real reward. Getting it to 200 without xp leeching? Some classes are just gonna have a hard time just trying to level the glyph alone.

AoZ’s purpose was to do more AoZ. The tear glyph trivialized the rest of the game so the only challenge left was AoZ. Reminds me of the old drug PSA:

“I do coke, so I can work longer, so I can earn more, so I can do more coke”

Not sure they saw that coming.

After I wrote this comment all 3 of my seekers were ranged teleporters.

I am Casual and was well behind but I was able to catch up.

To me, any game is all about defeating its Final Boss.

And this game’s Final Boss is Uber Lilith.

They gave us Uber Bosses for Uniques and Duriel for Uber Uniques. You can farm Duriel for Uber Uniques over and over until you get the best gear. You should be able to kill Uber Lilith just with this especially when you played an overpowered meta Class/build.

If this is not enough to kill Uber Lilith, usually with a non-meta class/build, they made AoZ to give you Tears of Blood glyph. Level this up over and over until it is high enough to melt Uber Lilith.

Once Uber Lilith is dead, game is over. You have no more business with the game.

On me, since I am just Casual, I refused to do the neverending carrot-on-stick from Duriel and AoZ. I just destroyed NM100 and at least beat AoZ tier 1 from 3 builds: Sacrilegious Blood Lance Build with Ring of Starless Skies , PentaDoT and Summoner with Xfal and Mendeln rings. There is no way I could kill Uber Lilith since I refuse to farm for Uber Uniques and level my Tears of Blood glyph to the max. I am just armed with regular Uniques.

But I wish Blizz would let us Casuals beat Uber Lilith by eliminating her one-shot kill mechanics. And maybe introduce a new harder Uber Lilith called Uber-Uber Lilith to satisfy no lifers that requires Uber Uniques and high level Tears of Blood glyph to be beaten.

Lol, was this supposed to dissuade you from doing drugs?

It’s something for jealous trolls to fume about because of the people who like the game, and are good at the game, have something to enjoy about the game. It runs contrary to the Toll’s narrative…
