I don't understand the overpower nerfs. WHY?

Call me crazy, but having “impossible” content in the game is really stupid.

Now let me clarify my standing before this is jumped on. I’m actually actively okay with bringing Overpower down to the other modifiers, and the concept of nerfing paragon stuff to bring a more static increase across the class board is I think a decent move to make. Although it does suck to take hits like this when we had such an integral taste of the paragon glyphs leveling process before. I praised them for not having the same level of Glyph as cap of the Pit (Or greater rift as it was named in D3). Meaning that your glyphs capped out before the pit did, and I think this was a GREAT choice. Putting a cap on the power you gained from it, and relying on perfecting your build through the other power gains felt good in the way of trying to climb those remaining pit levels. Granted, some builds obviously found some busted interactions allowing them to ascend overnight.

Going back to the nerfs, I’d like to preface that these changes to ME, seem like they’re just going to end up traveling the D3 route anyways? With an expansion down the line, they’re probably setting a pace for the existing classes to perform at whatever weird ideology they’re operating under. But it seems likely that tier sets will make a return to form.

I’m all for a world where all classes and builds can perform in within the same delta and I believe bringing Overpower down to achieve that is overall a positive step. Something else that D4 absolutely needs to capitalize upon is giving access to truly fun farming builds. Players love smashing screens worth of enemies, and I have no idea why the D4 devs seem so opposed to this. Especially since the Overpower builds tend to achieve this in a much better way. That’s the entire fantasy and dynamic of playing an ARPG. But if I’m honest, I have way more fun playing the speedfarm variant of Leapquake. It doesn’t hurt my wrist to spam buttons, it feels freeing to leap over stage transitions or walls and I can just drop on enemies with a splash! And it’s not even close to the top of the power wall right now.

Now, I agree with them slowing down the pace of how you go from nothing to a badass. I want to savor each upgrade’s impact as I climb to that blasting megafun! But they have a bit further to go before they really nail the D4 experience. These slight changes to Masterworking they mentioned are…a step I guess. But these endgame systems really need a second or third perspective.

To be fair, though, D3 was rough at the start too. Pre-ROS was quite a different cup of tea, having farming routes in Act 1 since no adventure mode existed, etc etc.
