I dont understand the latest Patch

Hello Dear Forum & Blizzard,

I am very frustrated by today’s balance patch.

Briefly about my current state in the game, I am level 61 have collected all the aspects the whirlwind build needs, today after getting up I find that my character no longer works as I left it.

I have several questions regarding the design of Diablo IV compared to Diablo III, maybe they can be answered here.

  1. What is the design philosophy behind the gameplay ? Should you always have to use an “Auto-Attack” or Basic Spell to gain Fury ?
  2. Is fast or smooth farming not intended ?
  3. Why is a nerf applied after people have invested hours in the game.
  4. Why is a nerf not being made at season start with alot more time to prepare ?
  5. Why has Paragon not been tested extensively ? If Nerfs of up to 70% are being done, Blizzard has to be really dissatisfied with the performance ?
  6. Why is a Nerf being done at all ? What is problematic about builds that can clear the content quickly ?

Thanks in advance for all constructive answers.

My WW Barb works perfectly fine after this change.

Initiate with Lunging, use 1 of my 2 charges of death blow for the instant 20 fury, then spin to win, use another death blow as they get kinda low for a ton more fury.

then when you hit elites burn shouts and spin to win, stopping only to death blow when mobs are low.

If yesterdays patch has completely prevented you from playing WW then you should probably evaluate what you are doing wrong.

When are they supposed to apply a nerf? By your logic… never? They should never update the game not ever even once because people have already played it? Wut lol

You level 61 with 39 levels worth of Paragon to buff you character ahead of you - what isn’t to understand!

Thats not what im asking. My Build “works” but i have to use spells differently and not in the way i want to. I want to spin and spin and not initiate with slow spells that deal little damage or are simply not fun to use.
That sort of spin gameplay was in place in D3, im honestly asking how the design philosophy has changed ? And if its intended to use builders for seconds at a time to then be able to use whirlwind.

Im not implying any logic im asking for the logic behind it.

The logic is that WW uses fury, and you use builders to build fury.

WW is a spender.

its pretty simple logic tbh. if WW costs nothing and you sat there only pressing one button that would be incredibly lame IMO

Again, you are missing the question entirely. And whats lame or not is not for you to decide thanks.

It’s all been so terribly twisted. It’s almost like Blizzard hates itself.

You definitely shouldn’t do it before official release. Instead, you should do it right before season start so you have no time to actually course correct in the event further changes need to be made.

Actually I fully answered your question, you just hate the answer so you cant muster up a counter point.

You want WW to have no cost no CD and use no fury.

Just use only that and thats it… well sorry bud that would be incredibly lame. You have to use a spell to use WW. Its basic. Pick another class i guess?

Diablo 4 is designed to be like diablo immortal, not diablo 3.

You should be nerfing with days in advance for players to prepare - announce a season with the patchnotes its bringing and not adjust builds by massive margins in the middle of progression.

LOL, this makes no sense. Now is absolutely the time to do it. People playing early access helped reveal some issues which then get corrected before the official release.

That makes no sense… there should never be a balance patch during ladder unless its something insane that was an oversight.

If you patch the day before ladder how are you going to test this absolutely brand new game? The games been out 3 days… change as much as ya want who cares. Ladder isnt out yet.

Get the numbers and balance close so we have better idea what we wanna play for ladder.

To be fair if its intended to build up resources slowly to then start dishing out damage the gameplay has changed so significantly from D3 that its simply not for me

OP, try to get Fury cost reduction on boots and amulet as well as resource generation on your rings, this should make WW feels less awkward outside of shouts.

I honestly care because i liked the way WW worked and now i dont like it anymore. If you still enjoy it more power to you. I just dont see the benefit from nerfing it. Whats there to be benefitted ?
Just seems like an Anti fun decision.

Not if you have messed up hands. I played D3 Whirlwind Barb because for most of the fighting I only needed to use 3 skills Whirlwind, Rend, and Leap most of the time. A lot easier on the hands to play. I would just buff myself every 30 seconds with Battle Shout and War Cry and use Wrath of the Berserker as necessary. Not everyone needs to spam 6 skills every few seconds for a build to be fun for them.

You are definitely doing something wrong then

Read up on your class and read your spells so you understand how they work.

I was slaughtering this AM no issues

wait so ww barb sucks now ?

Completely agree with the OP post. Having to do something to enable our abilities might work well in MMORPG, but in an ARPG with hundreds of monsters running away all the time it’s simply not fun & painful to people like me with carpal tunnel pain.

The performance of the class isn’t the issue here, the problem is the gameplay and the clunkiness.
