As the title states. I don’t want you guys having any access to my work/business/life on my phone. I do not play phone games. My PC game client has NOTHING to do with my phone. The Authenticator was a nuisance, but this app has become compeltely intrusive. If I NEED this to play the game I purchased for $90, and this is being changed AFTER THE FACT, then I’m going to need a refund.
Pretty sure you can install it on your computer as well, why not just do that? The whole reason behind the authenticator is to make it harder for people to steal your account, because some people are idiots and like to go to shady websites. Just curious what the app is doing that’s becoming intrusive, other then taking up space on your phone.
Here’s a crazy thought:
Disable it from your account and set your blizz password to something not used for anything else.
Oh great…now I have to look into this.
(I’ve had the same physical authenticator since 2011 I think so that’s going to need to go soon@TM…and I kinda remember you can’t have the thing installed on PC…and don’t have space on the phone…and I agree with the OP…launchers are bad enough…now you need apps too…and they are getting worse?!)
There is a physical rng key logger. I got one when it came out 12 years ago. Duel auth modes are important for account secruity now.
Some compaines are moving to an app model because it costs money to send text messages.
It would be worse if you didnt have MFA and someone got your password.
How has it become intrusive? I don’t hear a peep from it until I need it.
Just remove authenticator from your account, done.
No, you can not. The Blizzard app - both the Authenticator app, and now the combined Bnet/Auth app are phone or tablet device only. The purpose of secondary authentication is to have a device separate from your PC (which could be compromised) that serves to validate your login. A keychain type device, or now phone apps are pretty common.
Same. I use my keychain still. Eventually I will have to upgrade, but that time is not yet.
They don’t… no more than any other app on your phone does.
You don’t need it as far as I know. There is no requirement to have an Authenticator on the account to play Diablo 4 that I am aware of.
For anyone who does not know what is going on, the stand alone Authenticator App for Blizzard has been rolled into the Bnet app and eventually people will have to migrate if they use the Digital stand alone Auth.
Those of us on the old keychain will have to upgrade someday to whatever version Blizz has currently. All the info on the change and migration is here.
Disassociate the MFA with your account. This will remove the need for you to have the app on your phone. Follow steps below
- Login to battle.net account
- Click your profile picture and go to account settings
- Security
- Click edit on the Authenticator
- De attach Authenticator
If that doesn’t work open a customer support case and they can help you remove it. However i’d highly recommend not doing so but the choice is yours.
After the acquisition by Microsoft you won’t have a choice.
So you better start trying to get a refund.
Office 365 you have just single factor authentication or MFA… They let you have a choice. soo more or less it will be the same.
Why are you making things up? There has been no mention anywhere of MS changing anything, much less changing the login requirements.
Yet. On their end they’ve started implementing “improvements”.
This is such an obvious troll post, the OP is obviously pretending like he doesn’t know how to take off the authenticator.
That is business and work, this is leisure and pleasure time
What’s next ?, Netflix asking for my retina imprint ?, I mean there are things that make sense and some that are just draconic
But even then its still a choice to turn it on for your business / work…
Is there a game out there right now that forces you to have MFA on or you simply cant play? I can’t seem to find one ?
Besides is it that hard to pick up your phone? Which they probably are on or have in hands reach. I guarantee that they spend more time on their phone they do their computer.
That is truly sad to hear. I have a few authenticators on my phone for other things, and they are lightweight, unintrusive apps. None of them are bundled with any other software or launchers.
My Blizzard authenticator is physical, and always has been. I have a stack of them from Blizzcons a decade ago. I’m using one from 2009 I think. I was contemplating moving it to my phone - but I absolutely will not if it requires Blizzard Launcher. If it comes down to it, I will either remove the authenticator from my account, or cease playing Blizzard games.
Blizzard should stop their own 2FA authentification and use Microsoft or Google one.
Keep your developpement team to make greater game instead!
I have the corehound art w/ pet edition from 2010. It is still working. According to Vasco’s website, the batteries are supposed to be good to 7 years and are non-replaceable.
I’m dreading the day I go to use it and nothing comes up on the screen.
No it isn’t, just write your passwords down, like seriously people.
