So I bought this game on console. I got the ultimate edition, if i wanted to play it on pc would i need to rebuy it, and if so would i need buy the ultimate edition again?
You need to buy it on every platform on which you want to play it.
But if you want Ultimate edition you only need that on one platform - the other platforms can all be Standard.

You have to buy it on each platform but if you bought ultimate on 1 platform, you can just buy standard on the other.
Only difference is you can only play early access on the platform that you bought the higher version on. If you buy standard you will have to wait until the full release to be able to play on that

Yes, you need a copy for every platform. You can buy the standard as long as it’s tied to the same bnet account as the PS5 is. You would only get the early access on the platform you bought the ultimate on though. Everything else, you would have on both.
I did have hope that big companies would allow you to use it on w.e console, pc you owned. Just cannot be playing on both at the same time.
I thought it was neat playing the server slam on my pc and then my son wanted to play his games so I jumped on my Xbox and played the exact same character on there.
I thought this was a bit misleading at first… I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow this for one account, one login, no ways around that. It just seems strange is all.
Kind of… during the First beta i was able to play my PC characters with the Wife on her Xbox…
Just linking the account to the Xbox was enough for that… so i believe since she is buying herself an Xbox copy and i have the PC copy i will be able to play the Xbox version even tho i myself only personally own the PC version.
So kind of yes we are technically buying 2 copies… but i only 1 copy each over 2 accounts.
i doubt it works in reverse… its more of a lounge co-op enabled thing… ill be able to play Xbox with my PC account be she wont be able to play PC with her Xbox account.

Only do it if you have the basic version. I bought 2 ultimate editions, one for my console and one for my PC. I lost the battle pass for the PC version because my accounts were linked, and only the Premium Battlepass was in my library. It’s criminal.
