I agree with general take S6 is boring but it is not due to the SB class

S6 mechanic is so bad it reminds me of the S1 mechanic for some reason? Did the same team happen to make both seasons I wonder ? , Anyway, before I begin I have to say that I am still playing the season. I have 2 SB , one is QV and the other is Stinger both rocking Rod of K and Midnight Sun combo of course.

S6 reward track is also terrible. It has less rewards than previous seasons and it cannot be repeated once you reach the end. The loot also sucks coming from it.

Both SB clearing pit 120 - mind you I don’t really want to go any higher as I am not big in pit pushing I just enjoy blasting and leveling my glyphs, I don’t care if I can do pit 150 or not.

I also have a minion Necro currently in T3 .

Gonna be straight up honest here, if it wasn’t for the SB class this season, it would have been a instant write off for me from the get go. The SB class is the reason I am able to play this much and this long. The class is extremely fun and i really do enjoy it.

Here is what I think really tanked for this season.

  1. The new difficulty tiers from D3 is absolutely fine. But it is executed poor and due to every class leveling feels like a slog during leveling. Unless you play on Normal and yes this includes the SB class. The SB class does not start to feel powerful until you get your build online.

  2. Because every class is nerfed this become especially obvious and transparent in late game, and the grind is more than ever before - however due to executed so poorly the grind feels bad because your class feels bad, underpowered and sloggish.

  3. Everything is very unrewarding - mythic drop rate is nerfed, ancestral drop rate is nerfed and struggling to get your aspect to max after hundreds of hours in is terrible design by default.

  4. Undercity is not very rewarding to play and it gets old fast. You get 3 or 4 runes if you slot in the rune tribute (unrewarding), otherwise you get trash legendary (like every where else in the end game that you do even in torment 4 90% of the time), uninspiring and boring. The Unique tribute with increase chance of mythic unqiue is the only exciting one but it is so rare you might as well just go farm torment bosses (also due to low drop rate it is no longer engaging to do).

  5. Inferno horde doesn’t feel as rewarding as season 5. But it is alright probably the least complain I have for this game mode for now.

In conclusion, SB is the only reason I am still playing this game right now. If SB wasn’t this much fun and powerful, season would been over the time it started for me.

I noticed this in the other post about the season being boring, I figured I would mention it here.

Most of the things you list have nothing to do with the season itself. Thats base-game crap. You don’t need to play season to deal with all that nonsense.

The fact that you arent actually saying anything about the season mechanics… that alone tells everyone how boring the season actually is lmao

and yes, I do agree with the majority of what you are saying btw.

for me, its the rubber band effect makes the game boring.

occasionally, i could have very responsive teleporting, like those showcased by youtubers.

but in many occasion, lets say i teleported 10 meters, then the rubber band effect dragged me back to 5 meters.

The season mechanic is totally forgettable and it is terrible. The concept is cool but again executed so badly . The way the oppal work is so bad I don’t even know how to describe it. The seasonal mechanic is just terrible. Slow, unrewarding and uninspiring.

indeed. Its just… lifeless. on top of the already dreadful state of the game due to all the things you mentioned.

I genuinely do not know what the blizz staff were thinking when they decided this whole season gimmick would be a good thing. cause it aint. and they should never work on another season again.

For real, whenever I happen to go and do a realmwalker, there is either no body around or you find 1 or 2 people. That is it… that kind of engagement level for a world event type of seasonal mechanic down to it’s core is just sad state.

No one wants to do the realmwalker, or get the weird oppals that don’t seem to work properly more than half the time. And since the reward track is so bad and cannot be repeated, literally no one engages with the seasonal mechanic. Such fail…

The realmwalker needs to spawn hella elites not mostly the little crud scrap enemies and those 3 demons. It should look like an outdoor infernal hordes. It should look like he is beginning an invasion of sanctuary and summoning the armada of hell. It’s somewhat ok when you get inside but they can increase the monsters inside too.

Right now you just do it to get the chest with usually 2 of the opals in it. So they clearly want you to do the event every time you see it so you don’t run out. So if only 2 opals is going to be the norm add some excitement to the event itself.

Yes, making it like inferno horde in open world would be cool , they need to up the rewards in general for this seasonal mechanic and the weird opals needs to work more consistently.

But it is too late now, season is over for a lot of people and not much they can do to change that. I doubt they will change anything either.

They make some things lackluster and underwhelming on purpose so they can be given praise and pats on the back for a good job when they improve things. This could turn out to be one of them.

Realmwalker should be added to Helltides, similar to how they first introduced Blood Maiden. We already have too many different events, and there’s no reason to add yet another that we have to go out of our way for. As for Opals, it seems like they based the Paragon leveling around them—without Opals, reaching Paragon 300 will be tough.

I don’t know why anyone expected much of the seasonal mechanic this time around - they weren’t going to do anything that might overshadow/ distract from the new class. it was always going to be low key - the problem was expectation and the devs failure to manage it.

I have a QV and an Evade SB. Looking to eventually make a Touch of Death and Crushing Hands. How’s Stinger? I also have a LS sorc that is doing pit 80 in 5 min and roflstomping T4. Started leveling up a minion necro since I also enjoy them but I do that through whisper caches so it’s not there yet. Though I have it’s Mythics ready for it.

I can agree to a few things - mostly that the season theme is pretty much not there.

But, one thing kinda interests me. People discuss a lot that blizzard only designs stuff for metrics - and clearly - it seems to work out no? People still play, while claiming stuff is boring.

Isnt that kinda contradicting? Shouldnt you stop playing to make some impact on the often discussed metrics?

I agree

We had a lot of Seasons with OP builds, like Ball Lightning, HotA, Lightning Spear, but all those Seasons kept people playing the Season far longer than the current one

Its not SB the reason why people are leaving

Exactly.
I don’t care spiritbork, no VoH for me and for the record, I have already stopped playing. I checked my builds and my rogue from S2 is the only one with 227hrs clocked in, all the others since then around 80-90hrs max. We only get grind and nerfs and hardly any fun component.

S6 is not the same as VoH with SB.

I think people often confuse that.

A simple example:

  • Find a player without expansion
  • Play S6

Stinger is awesome, follow the build guide from AceofSpade on Moby for the S tier build. It feels punchy and impactful with each hit. If you played D3 Monk you will know what im talking about.

Honestly SB has i think 5 core skills ? there is a S tier build around all 5 different core skills. And that to me is good class design. Core skill actually means “Core” skill again…

Very cool. I’ll have to add that to my list now lol.

Here is hoping that when they do balance them for S7 they don’t go overboard.

Yea, I thought about this too. Not sure why I still log on and play. Maybe is because SB class is a lot of fun and I just feel like logging on to do some farming each day for the heck of massacre full screen of demons… need that dopa fix you know LOL.

Imagine if SB couldn’t do that… along with everything else that is not in so good shape within the game. Would not log back on then.

Obviously, you aren’t powergamer
While I am agreeing on unneeded introduction to much complexity in S6 things aren’t “that” bad
Mythic drop rate about same as always 2% per run per tormented boss. You have ability during doing campaign accumulate 2 sparks to get 1 mythic of your choice.
Runes are farmable - its take a bit time (I’ll give you that) but its not even remotely challenging (Undercity/Realmwalker) AND! tormented bosses (Big Guy and Andi) - Duriel and Andi commonly drop legendary runes
About Infernal Hordes - they serve different purpose - 10 wave Horde when you are fully buffed (including Ancestor Favor shrine) about fastest exp grind to level Paragon that you can get.
