Ok, maybe I’m being a bit hyperbolic. Maybe this isn’t actually that big of a deal, but imo its pretty immersion breaking to summon a hydra and watch everything melt while I literally run in circles with my head cut off, and then turn around a drop a frigging METEOR from OUTER SPACE onto some random trash mob and watch the trash mob shrug it off like nothing happened.
Forget meteor, it seems like slotting hydra vs any other mage skill isn’t even a decision. Four immortal, untargetable, un-cc-able heads each auto-aiming basic skill equivalent attacks once per second that can also leave a dot and continue regardless of whether the caster is stunned slowed, or halfway across the map, and all for a single low-mana cost once every 10ish seconds? What could possibly hope to compare?
As something of a meteor wiz enjoyer its especially frustrating given the absolute state of my own personal favorite spell. Meteor requires aim, timing, AND requires the mob to stay in the less-than-fireball-sized impact radius for 3 whole seconds to take full damage, and even if it hits the damage it deals is less than one wave of hydra auto attacks. Its an absolute joke.
Maybe I’m just screaming into the void here and nobody else is bothered by this, or maybe people are too busy talking about the state of melee. Overall I’ve actually had am otherwise positive experience with d4 so far, but hydra has been a peeve of mine since d3. Idk does anyone else think this is an issue?
