Hybrid-Core (they said it has to be 15 characters)

We have Hardcore and Softcore as a choice when we play. Both has its own issues.

-Hardcore suffers from glitches, bugs and crashes and is not for everyone.
-Softcore there is no serious consequence at all for getting killed and that makes it kind of dull.

How about making some modification in Softcore where it gets a little more exciting to have a fear/concern before we blindly jump in the middle of a mob or in front of a boss and/or partying with stronger builds and jumping into a strong dungeon or pit and then keep on respawning without any concerns when we die?

We can think of many things but first comes to my mind is some sort of punishment, lets say for every 3 death you lose some serious masterwork progress or tempering progress or both.

This also helps with excessive carrying of lower level or power players by higher level or power players because they can still carry you but now they will also have to babysit you through the dungeon or pit or you will die. I know in the pit we lose Glyph points but I do not think this has been any discouraging.

We need something that will make players not wanna get killed too much and need them do something about it instead of putting their everything including bottom dollar into offense and power. We also don’t want it to be as harsh as hardcore, after all we would play hardcore if that is what we wanted. Overall I believe some more serious concerns for defense will improve the game play experience and make it more intense and exciting.

What do you all think ?

I’d be open to there being some kind of permanent durability loss mechanic… like if you die 10 times before repairing, you lose X% of your equipped gear durability.

It doesn’t even have to be a penalty. You can encourage staying alive or discourage getting killed by rewards too.

People care about their damage buffs in game. Say they give us reward for not getting killed for certain time, i.e you get damage buff up to 3 or 5% or w/e and capped, which you gain slowly but resets back to zero on death.

Soft core doesn’t need death penalty’s your already penalized for it in the form of wasted time

If SC were to have dealth penalty it would need to be on XP loss. You cant do that in the diablo franchise because of its playerbase.

In general HC is better all around especially the in game community. SC cant handle any type of negitive when they stand in bad.

The point of non-hardcore as that it is not punishing.

I’m not opposed to a mode that offers some punishment, but as an alternative, and frankly I doubt it would be that popular, but who knows.

But under absolutely no circumstances would I tolerate a default mode that permanently negatively affects my character or their equipment, that’s a uniquely terrible idea.
