Howl from below is an amazing unique legendary across the board for almost all necromancer builds. However it isnt without flaws. I will have a corpse right next to me, the butcher right next to me, and a corpse ballista off screen, and the volatile skeleton will prio the off screen corpse ballista, rather than the butcher who is trying to castrate me and wear my skin. Is there any way we can get the volatile skeletons to prio whoever is closest to the necromancer, rather than the seemingly random (or prio to distant enemies) that we have so i have more control over my build and playstyle. Thanks.
Got this last night and it is honestly as gimmicky and bad as it was in D3 when it was the rune Final Embrace. Tried it out and decided it wasn’t worth the loss of 4 points of Sever on my gloves. Fairly worthless like all the other Necro Uniques I have tried.
It does make for a relaxing utility option in helltides or other hold your ground type scenarios. I wouldn’t use it in Sever either though, but if you get 4-8 levels on corpse explosion, it fits well.
They do sometimes run off as described however, but it did say it picks a random target in the description; Would be nice to prioritize elites at least.
The trick with CE is to stack speed, which is also perfect for pairing with Mendeln as you need to use a wand (+ 15% Lucky hit chance and 1.2 attack speed).
Then you pick the +5% attack speed on the flesh eater paragon board and put 3 points on Inspiring Leader for another +12%, then with the up to +26% CE skill attack speed of HFB there are basically a ton of volatile skellies on the screen, so it doesn’t really matter if some miss your intended target (they actually never miss).
As opposed to other builds where you have to be a pianist or do a lot of preparation, here you just have to maintain the button pressed and move the cursor through the screen until everything is dead.
Pro tip, go to options → gameplay and disable screen shake effects or else every CE will shake your screen, which gets specially annoying at high cast speeds.
Reapers second update and hewed flesh are also mandatory ofc.
If you are a minionmancer, it is not needed in most cases.
If you are infinite mist, it is quite essential as a QOL against the annoying ranged mobs that kite you.
Well, if your main source of damage is Sever, ofc.
Sever and Blighted Corpse Explosion but I can’t imagine this would be that great on any build with the skeletons just randomly running off in every direction.
They usually don’t do that (especially with explosive mist), and HFB also give a 40% multiplicative bonus to CE.
