Oh yeah and the bugs! It would benefit the game greatly if each season wouldn’t come out buggyer than the PTR. There is always someting big game brakeing bug(s). That they let to rot the whole season.
They’re already on to Season 8.
And by “not much” we mean not at all. The PTR being launched (yet again) in a buggy state meant instead of playing it for a few days and moving onto POE2, they just took an earlier flight.
Interesting because there are videos covering S7 PTR stuff from numerous D4 content creators. They had short time because POE2 EA launcehd not long after. And there is also not much to cover, since nothing extereme is happening in D4.
PTR=Public Test Realm. Means PTR can afford to be buggy, that is the whole point of a PTR to test what is bugged, and to give feedback, if balance changes and new content is either too overpowered or too underpowered. It’s not for early enjoyment of the seasonal poweres and new content.
Thanks for the lecture, but you could have saved yourself the effort and just said you didn’t know what was bugged with the PTR.
Because if you did you’d know why it was problematic that it was bugged on Day 1 on a test realm. And you’d also know why the content creators that said they’d be on the PTR decided that they no longer had the time before POE2 launched.
It will happen eventually. With bare minimum effort at a premium price.
My bad, we have that already. Statue outside of Gea Kul.
There will be a Diablo character as soon as they figure out how to overcharge you for it.
I think if you like the state of the game then s7 will probably be fine for you. If you have moved on, then you have moved on. The gap between the games is significant.
I think it depends heavily on what kind of updates PoE2 gets to be honest. It’s hard to compete for attention with a brand new game in a genre that very, very rarely gets highly budget new games. It really doesn’t even matter which game is better, one is shiny and new.
Personally playing poe2 has made me miss Diablo now that I’ve done endgame over there. The people saying poe2 has more content are just repeating what streamers say, it absolutely does not yet. I think the over reliance on trade is going to sour for more and more people. It’s no better than launch Diablo 3 where the best way to gain player power was to sit around and flip trades instead of actually playing the game. Or you can jump through a bunch of hoops to juice breach to the gills and actually get decent drops since no other content is even close to competing.
I would prefer if the seasons had a focus on the story as well. Long quest chains that would be somewhat connected to the main story. Story + progression connected, and everything else that already goes with arpg every season.
Some Witch Power is going to be incredibly broken like Barbers. Some probably won’t work at all or partially. New Items and Aspects will have bugs and stuff flat out will not work and Blizzard will be silent on the matter. Ones introduced from the previous Season will still be busted. SB is likely to still dominate and only a handful of Meta builds will be able to push so in Blizzard’s eyes things are “balanced”.
Meanwhile the same complaints about Tempering, Itemization, End Game, and QoL will go unheeded. But hey, they are likely expanding DC which like a handful of people want forced group play.
I want D4 to actually be truly amazing. I believe the devs did say they won’t really be adding anything for the next few seasons and they’ll just be working on fixing things. Are we talking months? Years? I really want them to come back with a bang. I am worried this game really doesn’t have alot of staying power. Financially it was a huge success. As a game it just feels like a middle of the road game. Probably something that could have been made in the 2000’s.
Yeah people that really like this confound me. I guess I have to accept that other people just find fun in something that is a definite turn off for me.
Honestly it’s the main reason I bounced off D2R so quickly - I want to play a game and get excited about what drops for me, not what I get and think “oo I can stand around and spam chat for an hour and probably get someone to trade something really good for this.”
Also though why I’m not really opposed to an AH, as it’s more passive at least - I can post and go about my business. What worries me is if Blizzard doesn’t check for dupes before an item is posted, and that they’ll probably make drop rates worse just because.
Trading/selling is fine as a side option, but it should not be the primary means of progress, in my opinion.
But I digress.
EDIT: (Incidentally, I didn’t run into this issue in D3 until mid-Inferno, when it became super annoying, but a couple legendaries from the AH let me clear it and then I pretty much put it down until loot 2.0. So at least I didn’t have to stand around and beg, but the fact that I couldn’t find anything good ruined the experience.)
Have to say you are wrong on that. Bone Spear/Blood Wave combo will definitely be a thing using Indira’s Memory.
As for some of the flat damage powers, they’ll be needed to trigger useful on-hit/deal x-type damage multipliers.
I dabbled in the PTR and the new ball lightning items were interesting. I will play that next season, I need a Spiritborn break. The witch powers were fun with some being better than others. Vendors are moved around again to make way for new seasonal vendors where you forge witch stuff.
This for me. I can only play the same game so long. Already played this. Season 6 with copy pasta season 2 and a little season 1. Didn’t peak my interest. Even if the witch powers are cool that’s no big deal to me.
Season 7 is the first without major reworks or modes and about to add more powers than every season before. That alone makes it interesting for me.
The thing that made Season 2 and Season 5 my favorites is missing though. These two stand out with adding 2-3 times more unique items for each class.
I hope over 40 seasonal powers will result in more lasting content compared to other Seasons.
I’m sure you’ll have fun with it, but that has nothing to do with what I said.
The difference is that S2 Blood Powers however and lesser extent S5 Seneschal Stones were mostly about either boosting your own power or enabling builds. They added QoL features and allowed points to be invested elsewhere.
Witch Powers focus a lot on being the source of damage and they take up Item Slots which kind of sucks.
I see. I didnt play the PTR this time.
It will depends how stable it will be on PC. I will not install it again if it crash like a malware.
