Most of us who played the beta know the lore from that “zone” let’s say it was lore chapter 1. So how will it work if I start the game on the other end of the continent and I am in lets say lore chapter 4? How can I play so the lore is unfolding in the correct order? Chapter 1 - 5. Not “chapters” 2, 3, 5, 4 ,1?
most probably you can go to any act : to farm , do regular quests etc…, but the main quest-line may only be done in the correct order.
But what is the correct order? Would I start the game in the Fractured Peaks? If so, what zone would I go to next to be in the correct order?
well , if it is what i said :
there will be history / main line story quest : act 1 , act 2 , act 3 etc…
what we did in beta was act 1’s.
and once it is finished we can start act 2’s story line , then after that act 3’s etc…
the only change is that you may visit early some area from act 2 and act 3 despite not having finished act 1, but without being able to start the story line of said act.
According to PC Gamer and the article “heres-how-diablo-4s-shared-world-works”, you can wander wherever you want. Also, I know that the Barbarian Class Quest takes place in the Dry Steppes and the Druid one takes place in Scosglen. You need to be level 15 in order to start the quest. So, this means starting somewhere other than the Fractured Peaks or that we will have much better access to the other zones upon launch. At this time, we haven’t (can’t?) heard from people who have played Closed Beta. As such, there is a lot they know but we do not. How lore works is one of these. Right now, there are two main theories. One, Zone A-E are separate but you must complete the storyline in each before you can do endgame properly. Think of it this way, Lilith starts stuff in each zone and then leaves for the endgame. So, each zone has a distinct part of the story but the story finishes when you do endgame. You will visit each zone again in order to complete the Endgame. Two, Zone A must be done by everyone before Zones B-E but these can be done in any order and each has endgame content. Think of it this way, Lilith starts the ball rolling in Zone A, then Zone B-E has various plotlines running at the same time but we don’t face Lilith yet because she is in Zone F (which is in an expansion) causing even more trouble. Each zone has a “main” boss designed to stop you from getting to Zone F. So, you must complete each activity before you can have access to Zone F.
1, 2, and 3 can be done in any order. The last 3 or so acts are in order. I imagine what happens in acts 1, 2, and 3 lead up to what happens in act 4.
You guys obviously played the beta right? Did you not look at the map ever and see the yellow quests in the restricted zones? It was very obvious where you need to be next.
Sure main story will no doubt send you through a dedicated path but its an open world you dont have to stick to the path if you feel like questing or exploring elsewhere.
Also closed beta people can’t answer the main story questions because it wasn’t implemented in the game, many a npc did I see with redacted story so as not to spoil it all through leakers later no doubt. Only random blue quests were available not the dedicated yellow main story quests.
