How to stop being mad about state of D4

There is lots of rage about current state of D4 and lots of valid critisism.
Also it looks liky many people are suprised how some of the aspects of this game can be so bad.

I will explain you how modern gaming industry works.
In the past gaming was for really minor group of nerds developed by enthusiasts. Their main purpose was to deliver some cool product.

But now gaming is one of the most if not the most profitable entertainment industry. Bcs so all major title are releasing by big corps. Big corps are owned by shareholders like investment funds etc. And they are caring exclusively about profit and current or short-term price of stocks.

All decisions about game are subordinated to interest of shareholders.
So if you wonder why have this polish yet halfbaked product imagine this situation.

Devs: We have pretty solid base of the game, if we will work for another 1-2 year we can probably deliver really amazing thing.

CEO: hmm hmm cool cool. MARKETING! FINANCE! If we would develop this game for 1-2 more how much money that will cost us and how mucho more copies we will sell?

Marketing: Well hype is really on point, but there are also another similiar type of game + none of the future development will help us promoting this product.

Finance: Actually is highly unlikely we would sell more copies, most people don´t wait for reviews and Diablo si still pretty solid brand…so they will buy it anyway, according to our prognosis we are now at peak. Also it will cost a tons of money to develop this game for two more years.

CEO: RELEASE it right now!

Devs: But can we have at least few months to do some testing and maye…

CEO: Throw this pleb in to the cellar and someone hand me over my cigar!

…

After release.

Feedback guy: Sir? Game has some serious issues and players are aware of it, what should we do?

CEO: What % among player base are complaing?

Feedback guy: Around 1%.

CEO: WHAT?! Get this dude out of my office.

Welcome to corporate capitalism. I don´t want to say its bad or good, thats just how it is and its same with everything.

If any company is owned by shareholders and not by few enthusiasts who care about health of their company in 20 year. They will always care only about short-term profit and good number at the end of the year.

From their perspective Diablo IV is huge success.
We can cry here and being upset about state of this one time amazing franchise, we can deliver some valid feedback or just raging, but they just sniff some coke from hoe butt and drink galons of dom perignon now.

And don´t fool yourself. There will be some minor adjustments here and there, but game will be place on hold with limited funds till will be time for expansion. Till then, there will be no major changes.

When i realized this situation I stopped being mad about devs and game itself. This diablo product did what it should. It made money.

I will only complete the 1st seasonal journey because I got Deluxe edition (and if I can manage that without needing to hit 100, I’ll be surprised), and then I’m abandoning the game until at least the first expansion.

That’s how I’ll stop being mad. I ain’t about to put myself through another 2+ years of pre-RoS D3 inferiority.

No, shareholders are the true clients, you’re just a user.

Is everybody’s fault if they don’t even look at indie games because… graphics?. The bar is set because us users put it that way in the first place.

TLDR;

we are pre season 1, the game is basic. the people complaining have spent an unreal amount of time playing and have run out of content.

every season is supposed to bring new story, features, game systems ect. If people have run out of things to do they can either try out new classes/builds or wait til season 1.

with the amount of hours people are getting out of the game it owes them nothing despite the extremely high sale price.

I might be in the same boat, though they did fix one of my major complaints and improved the XP gains. I’m flying through levels now compared to before the patch.

People on these forums treat it as blasphemy when I talk about how it’s okay to play other games and that D4 is always going to be here. I went and played some Xenoblade 3, then FF 16 for a little while, then they improved XP and I’m playing D4 again, though I really do need to kill Ultima and finish FF 16 soon. I’m kind of annoyed I only got a week out of that game, because I have no interest in playing through it again due to its mundane side quests and insane amount of cutscenes that leave me watching like it’s a movie.

LOLwut? How many D3 seasons had any sort of thing?

Do you know where you’re at? This is Blizzard we’re talking about, the queens of cutting corners & doing the least amount of work.

That’s pretty much what Blizzard expects the majority will do.

thats why games that last should have 5-10 dollor monthy payment. Would rather have well polished game with constant addons and pay that amount than some butt stinking netflix…

D3 added zones, monsters, gear…some of it had story, like the weird blood cult/slug area with a new boss at the end. A lot of the features, the latest being a secondary paragon system, did stay only in the season though.

blizzard has stated it a few times now. new story, features, game systems its a thing. eventually we will get runes rune words set items.

(fixed that for you)

Sadly, forcing them to ship something and then having to spend the next year desperately trying to fix what should all have been done in play testing years ago is the only way this game will ever git gud. Assuming there are any customers left to play it at that point.

Didnt read your rambling and tbh no one will. You are weeks late on the “bros the game isnt that bad” posts. I would recommend you make a TL DR, without one you seem like a dolt.

The so-called new zones came from the cannibalized cancelled 2nd expansion.

Lilith was gonna be the expansion boss, but they instead scrapped it and made it D4’s focus.

See all the “blood cultists”…“blood is the key”…“blood vermin”…“blood-letting ritual”…etc.

Other seasons maybe, but this S1 likely has all the content that was cut to be able to release the game early June. They also have to impress, so it’s most likely going to be one of the best/biggest season until first expansion.

There are still good devs out there who still put out enjoyable, fun games. Larian Studios and CD Projekt Red to name a couple. And there are bad devs out there who still manage to put out enjoyable, fun games like Nintendo. Even Capcom is putting out decent showings, with Street Fighter 6 being their latest. And Square Enix also doing decently with Final Fantasy XVI (though I wish they would give up on making the series a sausage fest).

Inept, grotesqueries like Activision Blizzard don’t have to be the case.

That’s basically what the price of battle passes are. It’s just that they’re optional, because there’s a free version.

Okay…your response sounded like they didn’t add new zones and content. They did, regardless of the source.

Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.

You maybe should start reading posts if you want response to it. Or you are risking another embarrassment for you again.

Ohhh you are sweat, do you also trust every comercial you saw? Of course they stated that, they hardly can say we will do some minor change with few sidequest and new gem lvl

Uh…“creating a proper expansion with everything in a coherent order” Vs “ripping random areas from the cancelled expansion and sticking them in random parts of the map like tails on demented donkeys”…

No one in their right mind would choose the latter. All it did was give us more stupid tedious bounties.

They’re currently working on two expansions (announced before the game launched), on top of planning to add content like they did in D3.

Right…and they also said that D4 is a brand new game, yet half the stuff in it is copy/pasted from D2…

  • all the classes
  • all the skills (then they removed a bunch of them and added 1-2 new crap ones that no one likes so they don’t really count)
  • most item affixes

and round the wheel goes.
