Hello everyone. So I just started doing some HC run now that my main character in SC is kind of done and just waiting for s1. I rolled a necromancer and already died twice lol. My main problem is that once i used up essence it seems so slow build it back up. I am using Reap as my basic attack and sever for my core. Basically I can do lots of damage in the first few seconds but suddenly takes so long to refil essence and Reap has the lowest damage on basic attacks sigh. So I am basically doing almost no damage for a bit of time while generating essence and on bosses that is almost a death sentence since they keep pummeling me during that time.
Reaper pet that generate corpse + Corpse explosion + The node that gives essence everytime you use a corpse.
Very few Necro builds uses a basic ability, You get a lot of essence like this
What about if you make a no pet build? i plan to make my necro no pet. For now I am sticking to pets because he is in HC and pets are good for distracting and taking a hit if things go wrong haha. Also would iron maiden help? I just noticed it gives essence. Currently using Decrepify curse.
then just remove the reaper part ?
It’s the same thing, just a few less corpses without the minion
I mean how do you generate decent essence without pets. Iron maiden curse only?
Reap generates essence so slow.
is it possible to make a build without pets and corpses? or will it be too weak?
I was thinking that i could build my necro into sort of a dark knight melee combatant.
Lucky hit restore essence on hit on gloves
Lower resource cost stat wherever possible
The same way i said as above.
Essence regen on corpse use + corpse explosion
then you need the aspects that gives you essence.
The ones you use in bone spear build
Alright thanks. I will also be more careful now and just stick more on the campaign to lessen chance of death lol. My first two death came from optional stronghold bosses haha. Dont think I can bear to start a 4th HC character in 3 days lol
Iron Maiden, Grim Harvest, Bone Prison, Umbral, Exposed Flesh, Starlight, paragon essence on kill, Osseous Gale, Frost Mages.
Frost Mages are quite good for leveling with Viscous and Coldbringer which are kind of easy to find gambling boots IIRC.
Do you guys use Blood Mist as defensive? I played barb and druid so far and they have similar defensive with iron skin and earthen bulwark so I am not used to playing necro atm haha
Blood Mist is pretty much required on 100% of Necromancer builds because of its defensive Immunity and Unstoppable qualities. With aspects you can also use it offensively and as a movement speed boost though.
ok thanks. I am really impressed with hardcore players more than ever now. Playing hardcore is stressful. If my ocd nature did not want some of the titles from hardcore achievement I would stop lol
There is a passive that gives you essence after using a corpse. Corpse explosions therefore gives you essence.
I use skeleton priest to generate essence instead to fuel bone spears. You can play around.
I could never. All of my deaths are stupid surprises that I didn’t see coming. Hardcore would give me a heart attack.
Yeah, you’d be looking at maybe a sacrifice blood surge build with a sword and shield, 18-20k hp, very tanky, use the ring ‘mothers embrace’ to get 40% of surge back with 5 or more targets, go into the bone paragon tree to grab the essence node, use both curses, stack attack speed everywhere you can aspects and stats, use attack speed potions, take the 20% hemorrhage option - if you get attack speed high enough you can refill your essence from empty to full with hemorrhage in 1-1.5 seconds, use double surge aspect
To make it even easier, you can spec into sacrifice and still take the bone golem for their aoe taunt and only lose 2% DR, makes it trivial to just wade into a huge group of mobs.
I’m running no pet Necro and the sacrifice bonuses are worth it; passive, paragon, and aspects.
I prefer no-pet necro if using bone spear, but with mendeln and deathspeaker, full minions is petty much necessary
Yes this is my 3rd character in 3 days. first two lasted 3 hours but it is because I tried to push it and did strong optional bosses that killed me. For now I stick to story and unlock potions and skill points before I go for those strongholds and optional bosses on hard sidequests. But if I die again I will also give up haha. So far lvl 30 now haha.
I almost died earlier but good thing I have pets and after the lag spike ended i still have some life left since my minions distracted a lot of the enemies. It was so close though darn lag.
I found pets super helpful, at the start, but before I did the T4 capstone, I had sacrificed all my minions, so roughly lvl65.
Yea it seems pets are the way to go for leveling. They are tanky for WT2. Some of the bosses I just actually let them kill the bosses while i kite to avoid accidental deaths. I think at higher lvl we can do no minion builds easier because we have more skillpoints to allocate around and better gears to make ourselves sturdier.
