First of all, I’m a level 100 Arc Lash main and clear NM100 dungeons in under 10 minutes, which makes me a qualified expert on the sorcerer’s endgame issues. Here’s how you fix the sorcerer in several easy steps:
- First of all, get your lead developers to play the sorcerer through Uber Lilith and NM100 dungeons. All this talk is cheap and a waste of time until the developers get firsthand experience of what it’s like to play the sorcerer in the endgame.
- Fix the sorcerer’s garbage uniques. Most of the issues with survivability are not innate to the class, but rather the result of the sorcerer’s build-defining uniques coming with massive nerfs to survivability. Raiment of the Infinite should have 4x defensive stats and not increase the CD of teleport by 20%. Esu’s Heirloom should also have good defensives stats instead of the garbage affixes it currently does. The Oculus’ unique effect should be a targeted teleport instead of the random garbage it does now to make up for the fact that it causes you to lose a HUGE chunk of your dps. In fact, the Oculus is currently the most mandatory unique for successfully clearing NM100 on the sorcerer so the fact that it’s not getting any fixes in the upcoming patch is a complete, sad joke.
- Increase the base movement speed of all classes by 30%. QoL affixes like movement speed should never, ever compete with affixes that are integral to surviving and doing damage.
- Decrease the cooldowns of all abilities of all classes by about 20%. Seriously, just do it.
Done. The sorcerer is now, while not as S-tier as druids and necromancers, a viable endgame class with minimal effort from the developers. All of these fixes can be implemented in an afternoon.
