How the opals for increased drop rate works?

I am paragon 100+ and still didnt figured this out.

Do they works in horde or in undercity or pits? Those mobs dont drops any loot so it will get in chest at the end?

I think you use them for exp not for the gold, mats etc.

But everytime I had the opal used I found 2-3 mythics

I suppose you need to be in a zone where enemies actually drop loot. Although I have been killing everything in my sight with material opal active but still couldn’t find enough anglebreath to upgrade my healing potion…
