How much of it's playerbase did the game lose in the second half of the season?

Lets take a look at the actual factors here:

1] They released no new midseason content. They have done this in the past. Remember AoZ?

2] They had a massive dupe exploit ruin trading for the season.

3] They have a rival with a fairly well received game in early access nipping at their heels.

4] They seem to be content with making the game "good enuf’ and character balance is based on T1, and I guess cookbooks make money???

5] Spiritborn opness had everyone playing that class bored in a couple weeks. Yawn I did 150 pit now what? Well that now what was play a different game. IT also made all other heroes feel bad as you see what SB doing and you can barely get to T4? Feels bad.

6] S6 had a weak season mechanic. S7 looks much better but S6 was weak.

7] They still have a seemingly unsurmountable amount of bugs.

8] Their events at the end of this year were a total failure. Re-releasing Red cloak horror and you cant even get the same or new cosmetics? Red cloaks from hordes dont even do anything??? What in the world???

You add up all this and I think the numbers have indeed plummeted to around 80%-90% player loss while a certain rival exceeded all expectations…

This was with an expansion as well so its not even par for the coarse.

Diablo is in trouble if this is the best they can do. Rivals are going to steal their players season by season until just a shell is left. POE 2 is much much more player friendly in my view than POE 1. I have tons of boxes to store items in POE 2 that I dint even buy as they made smart decision to have purchases carry over from shop as much as possible from POE 1. Meanwhile D4 is loading other ppl stashes, making cookbooks, and failing to dupers and we are starved for room, we cant even get a rune tab that can store all runes. Im not a D4 hater. I love D4 and the franchise. I would not spend so much time here with ideas and trying to help if I was just a POE fanboy. I want both games to be good and fun but POE is just doing a better job so far. D4 still wins in some areas but POE wins in the ones that count more. D4 can get this turned around but they gotta make substanctial progress every season. POE is still not out yet and it does have its own set of big issues. Do good and make a good game and the forums will reflect it.

We will see if GGG sticks to their script and completely enforces a fair game. When the first dupe exploit hits GGG We will see what they are made of.

No one on this forum knows player numbers unless Blizzard shows them. People come and people go all the time.

Before I left for POE 2 I could not give away free runs for bosses in trade channel. That has never happened before for me in other other 5 seasons. This season is completely abandoned and there is like 6 weeks to go.

The base took a massive hit and its D4 fault for waving the white flag this season at midpoint.

I don’t remember the last time I logged in. waiting for the -FYI there is a free skin post to be honest.

You lit up the bat light and the team showed up. Well done, OP. Well done.

A better question would be, “how much of the playerbase will return for season seven?”

Yep. Posters who try to make big deal when numbers drop during a season only show their ignorance.

Steam would mean more if had been available on launch. The fact you couldn’t buy the game on steam 4-6 months post launch means the majority of PC players are on battlenet. That’s also not taking into account the people playing on consoles. Steam charts ARE good for looking at trends over a period of time even with a such a small sample. But posters who compare straight numbers with other games that were available on steam from the beginning or making fun of a seasonal game because the numbers are taking the usual mid- late season dip just shows incredible stupidity. (Not saying this is you, but I’ve seen it so many times here)

Actually I’d have said above that, What with the bad itemization, skills and worst of the Fenris issues that were crashing and or freezing the game making me reboot repeatedly! It didn’t take a lot of that to make me and others uninstall and find something else!

Just look at the trade site. ITs all dried up. Only sellers left are duper with leftover duped items. Everyone else left. Many items cant even be found now. This is how you know 80-90% of players are gone. Might even be as high as 95%.

The game currently is designed to fit into the Xbox game pass life cycle. When you finish the seasonal content, go try other game you can play for free among hundreds of title. Drop by again when next season started, or you continue to play other game in the Game Pass.

I doubt its 90% but it is substantial. I stopped playing just after the mid-season patch as this season has absolutely ruined the loot chase for me. Weeks and weeks on end with no real gear or aspect upgrades. 250-ish hours in game and 8.3% of total aspects maxed. When an ancestral does drop it has jokes per 5 seconds, healing rerolled or Lucky Hit: 99% chance it will never happen.
Add to that the ridiculous level grind to P300. No matter others’ opinions to me it is absolutely ludicrous this is not reasonably obtainable in a season. Running 5000 Pits to me is not reasonable especially when there is literally no other way. It was pointless for me to continue as any semblance of progress was gone.

Everyone knows this season lost a lot more and faster then normal because it was once again garbage.

This is how I see it as well. My toons felt loot capped. No upgrades for days on end. No ancestral legendaries worth AF. Paragon progression far too grindy and unrewarding power-wise. Just feels dead ended.

Ok, so what? Again, its a video game and people get bored. Its not a big deal.

Why does it matter to you? Did your clan stop playing?

EverQuest, has no daily quests but has way more than 90 days of content (p99). Most people probably couldn’t get max level in that amount of time on classic eq

I mean you’re not wrong, most MMORPGs have more than 90 days of content in general, just a matter of staying engaged once you’ve reached the pinnacle of what you can achieve before the next expansion comes out. They are meant for the long run though, where as ARPGs by comparison are typically not meant to last nearly as long. Even D2 would only keep a persons interest so long being on the same character.

Now yes there are exceptions to the rule, those who love to play their characters up to max level obtaining the best gear that took them months to achieve. However they are definitely the minority.

So true I been playing p99 for about 10 years now and I don’t think any of my characters are bis yet lol, real competition on mobs make a big difference there.
