How many options (to clear everthing solo) does the sorc has? (Compared to other Classes)

Based on my Previous Post “I stopped playing because of weak sorc. (Who else?)”

…and because some reacted with “you’re a bad player” or similar (which is a pretty inappropriate behavior to say to someone you don’t know)i will save my honor (donnow if i have some ^^) and be a little more precise. Ok let’s go!

To put it more precisely:I stopped playing because I feel like I have no (powerful) options with the sorc especially as the type of player I am.

What do I mean by options and my “player-type”?

I’m not a hardcore diablo fan and doesn’t intereact much online with others or know any trivia or every mechanic in detail. But i’m also not an casual. I enjoy arpgs as a personal pleasure and spent a lot of times in these kind of games and find ways for myself to beat everything. Normally. Ok.

If you like to experiment and try around and try to craft a build with logic and your own taste, then 99% of the time you’re not in any meta configuration of a class that you find in the net. Sounds logic. But that’s how I’ve been playing ARPGs for nearly 20 years now. I never had problems to find a build for me to clear everything in a game. So it is also logical that it frustrates me that I can’t find a build for my own (whitout any help outside of the game) that works (=to clear Endgame) in D4.

But why is that? Well, because of few (strong!!!) synergy options for the sorc. (Maybe other classes too idk i only played sorc really so far) This is my thesis! I don’t say it’s a fact that you have to follow. It’s quite the opposite…I am looking for counterarguments. I DO NOT WANT THIS TO BE TRUE!

The more options in synergies you have, the more fun an ARPG is and the more likely you can build your very own powerful build by experimenting. Isn’t that the central point of the genre?

So in what way am I a bad skilless player? Because I can’t get to any of the FEW meta tweaks without the internet?Ok, then I really am a bad player. My bad xD It can’t be that I absolutely have to check out the meta of an ARPG or? Is that how we’re supposed to play games? So performance optimized as if it were a job, where you can also often experiment little?

Leads me to following important Questions: Isn’t it rather skillless to look for a ready-made build instead of dealing with the mechanics yourself? And what brings the most of fun? ( In my opinion: *If you find a Build that blows everthing away and you know you found this synergy for your own…priceless!)*Why do we play video games? So that we look online in the meta how we have to play our game, instead of that developers offer us many creative opportunities to develop ourselves?Maybe I’m too old, (I’m not that old I’m 34…xD) but for me, I argue not to lose that kind of fun in my all time favorite genre.

So let’s discuss this to bring in more facts and less of this " i feeling that it is"-stuff. Let’s see how many options each class has.

I don’t know every class in Diablo 4 in detail. So share your experiences and we’ll get a fact-based overview. And in the end, I might be wrong and just be a skillless victim  What builds work to play through the game completely? Any class.

Do you feel like you have enough options with your non-sorc class? Do you agree that the Sorc doesn’t really have many options?

Hint: Not many options means, for example, that certain skills must always be used. Many synergies are useless (in Endgame or generally), that some enchantment items must always be equipped, etc. regardless of build. And it also means that in the end, only a few synergies are powerful enough to survive in the really hardest endgame.

If anyone here has a big-picture overview across all classes, feel free to share a longer post or a source link! Maybe there articles out there they address this?

I hope for constructive participation.

Best wishes, from a skilless loser and the for real baaaaaadest gamer of all time! ^^

Well its a tricky answer. I went through a Sorc the first time and tried all kinds of builds and went with ice shards because I liked it, I didnt even know at the time it was the meta build (now overtaken by blizzard). But what I did was take that build and experiment with different combinations of it. I’ve used blizzard, frozen orb, flame shield, deep freeze, and ice blades with the hybrid build. I also did the paragon board myself, the way I wanted it, but only have 5 glyphs but more things filled out in those five boards.

Truth be told you’re better off experimenting with what YOU like. You wanna combine fire and ice? go for it. maybe you want ice and lightning? go for it. Conjurer’s are a good build too, if it suits your playstyle.

Define what you mean by “clear everything.” Uber Lillith? T100 NMD? Or just every quest line and NMD to say 75 or 80? You can probably achieve that without an Uber build. If you’re someone who doesnt wanna go to T100, don’t. Play the game the way you want to play it, and while it may not be meta, experiment with builds based on skills you like.

Yes both of this Endgame Content.

There are many options for Sorc to complete all endgame. This is proven by how many people have used different builds to beat t100 and Lilith.

I’ve seen chain lightning, hydra, ice shards, blizzard, ball lightning, frozen orb, meteor, as well as hybrids of all of those i.e. hydra-CL, blizzard-ice shard, blizzard-frozen orb, blizzard-CL, meteor-firewall, etc.

All of these I’ve seen at least beat t100.
