It no longer seperates items by type completely and also doesn’t sort by power. Things are mixed up, two amulets between a bunch of boots.
They changed the way sorting works.
Sorting now prioritzes putting items with more GA, especially uniques, in the front.

It also doesn’t sort Sigils by name properly either. It sorts them by region and partially by name but not consistently.
It’s very weird.
This was broken season before the nightmare dungeon season as I recall. Worked just fine prior to that.

I prefer the current sorting.

Why can’t you set Filters for sorting? This would make Inventory Management and Stash management way better.
Sort By X then Y then Z for example such as, Sort By Item type, then Greater Affixes, then Aspects and Aspect values.
Sigils need a color code to the outline of the Sigil like Tributes. Need to be able to Sort By Type.
Stash needs to be able to organize and move Tabs and move items between tabs and sort within the Stash. There is a lot of Macro improvement here.
