How long before we can use AI to create builds?

I was wondering if that predictive/priority source-stacking AI thing that all the cool kids are talking about can be applied to Diablo 4, to help us create on-the-spot builds. Assuming it would be based on a quick scan of whatever we currently have in our stash and inventory, we could simply tell the program which core skill we want to base it on, and the AI program would instantly put together the best skills, paragon points, aspects, tempers and uniques to assemble and go with, based solely on what you have in your inventory at any given time you ask it to do it. So, while leveling up, or even at end games if you runaround and gather up an inventory of new items, you could run the AI program to see if you still have the optimal gear load out, or if it can be tweaked.

Are we there yet? Or would that be like a ToS violation?

Nothing speaks lazy louder than wanting AI to do everything for you. What’s next? Make it that it plays the game for you? Oh, wait…

But how is it different from going to a streamer site or a fan site and copying their builds?

This would at least make the build unique to exactly the gear you have and you could even try some meta off-shoot stuff.

We might …

Nope, not at all. But I am more inclined to see an AI knowing every skill, passive, paragon, etc in game, and … let him do the trick. For … science that is! He doesn’t need to scan your gear etc, because that’s …irrelevant. He needs to however know every legendaries, uniques, aspects, etc. so he can recommend which to use …

At request, you can tell him to make a build based on your items , sure …

Yea, like if the AI program knows ever single stat range, every single multiplicative possibility, every single synergy, and every single skill application, and it could instantly calculate damage output using a few sim runs. Hell, it might even be able to find OP stuff the devs missed and they could balance the classes as such.

And it would all be done on the fly based on whatever we have in our inventory at the time we run it.

It’s not. But I don’t do that, I can theorycraft on my own. It’s not that difficult. Only thing you want to look into is what bugged and what is not. Also where do you think AI will go to geather data, to craft builds for you? Also how will AI know what synergies work or not?

If you can’t come up with a build on your own, why are you even playing ARPGs? It is the whole game.

I …strongly believe that devs already have AI running not few, but many sims.

So why can’t we using it to create builds and theorycraft?

I’ve asked ChatGPT :

Is this made by you or you copied it from somewhere else?

ChatGPT

The Fire Sorcerer build outlined here is created specifically for you, based on my understanding of the game mechanics and how to maximize the potential of the Sorcerer class. This build is not copied from any single source but is rather an original compilation, leveraging known information about the game. Here are the key components of the build again, with a focus on originality.

Maybe someone will try it or sim it on some D4 build websites?

Yea, but ChatGPTdoesn’t have direct access to the actual “math”. It’s just stealing posts from fansite builds and mushing them together.

I’m talking a fully dedicated AI build-maker using in game assets and data.

No, i asked him first to :

Do you know every skill , paragon, legendary powers, aspects, etc from Diablo 4? If yes, ok tell me, if no, go and learn them and tell me when you did, ok?

ChatGPT
Searched 4 sites

I have gathered comprehensive information about the various skills, paragon, legendary powers, and aspects in Diablo 4.

ChatGPT can do that, to some degree. You need to relay on ChatGPT or other AI Bots like this, because making one from scratch is … not a great idea!

I mean if u let AI do some thinking maybe we get better PTRs in the future

It will happen but it will further take away from the joy. It will be like copying somebody’s solution to a puzzle. Why bother with the puzzle on the first place then?

It it already a problem with the meta builds on day1 and that that difficulty is now scaled with that in mind.

Yeah, Lets just let AI do the thinking, Because thinking for ones self is out of style. Ineteresting twist on 1984…

You already got streamers to take away your gaming experience, while PAYING THEM for it.

So i guess now they will use AI to create the build, while you still pay them? haha funky.
Have fun with that

I don’t see anything wrong with this. It’d be an interesting experiment to compare what AI builds compared to our own. It could be a lot of fun, and would definitely keep me interested longer than a few weeks.

Okay you can throw out learning, thinking and solveing problems on your own out the window, to have mindless “fun”. Bet you love beeng told what you need to like, eat, wear and think too.

the combinations and permutations are actually not many.

i can’t say for AI, but for a machine learning engineer to script in python to suggest the recommended build, this could take around a week.
3 days if the machine learning engineer is d4 player with knowledge of all classes.

We might already be there, someone would just need to program it in with all the data, formulas of the game, affixes, etc. The only issue would could down to experimentation and actually being in the game. You can’t just plugin all the data to a website like ChatGPT and expect it to come up with a fully functioning build.

Oh sure the build would probably work, and be optimized, but you would need an AI that could essentially play the game, figure out all the little nuances to the game, what works, what doesn’t, etc. As we all know we can theorize all we want, but there’s passives that still don’t work, aspect interactions that are wonky, all sorts of things an AI couldn’t account for just by plugging in data.

This would take some time mind you. So while we might be there, it’s a matter of some one making the AI go into the game and experiment. Which would be against the ToS.

lol now I have heard it all.
