I hope it is because if you can interact with someone it loads their inventory and stash. So a true global chat would cause an instant crash to the servers.

You can run Diablo 3 at the same time and use theirs. I do. They still have lots of chatters.

This new age of games mainly made for consoles as D4 have no chat at all. There are plenty of them today. Console players dont have keyboards so why have chat ingame?
Try looking in the bottom left corner of the screen where ALL the other mmo ARPG games put it LMFAO!!!

What are you trying to say exactly? Are you saying that there is a chat in this game that includes more than the 5 other people in your zones shard?
i still dont understand how “always online” is even a point worth mentioning in the current day and age - its no longer 2003 people nowaday normaly all have good access to the internet

They have setup a LFG forum category on these forums. Is that not enough?
This is a monetized free to play beta release. Please give them another year to add features and changes that other arpgs have upon release. We will have these features and changes sold to us through an upcoming expansion as to continue being nickel and dimed.

This so much. A global chat (while potentially problematic) makes the game feel alive. There’s a buzz at the start of new season, everyones excited, etc.
The way it is now, game just feels dead even if you do see some others running around town now and then.
I don’t believe the claims that Blizzard hasn’t implemented chat for some benefit of the community, that’s all PR nonsense. I believe there is some technical difficulty to it they cannot overcome and it’s been pushed down in priority.
+1 for Last Epoch as someone posted, give it a look if you haven’t already.

Great game, big fan.
Embarrassing that a small indie dev of 20 people actually make a game that is unironically better than diablo 4 in almost every day, only thing that it lacks is the visuals.

Last Epoch has a great general chat. Lots of helpful people. We could have that here too 
I have consoles and have keyboards I can attach to my controllers.
IMO they need to add a general chat and a LFG chat, right now its just too hard in game to find a full group and we shouldn’t have to use discord just to find people to play with. I know that Blizzard said a LFG tool was being worked on but that doesn’t help the game today. I know there will be more gold sellers/spammers if there is a general chat but the QoL improvements would more than make up for any spammers.
We used to just run mIRC in the back ground and use that back in the day.
