Hopefully Blizzard will read this. . .
1- Bring Trading : Trading is the difference between having a super rare item just sitting in your stash and having a golden ticket to go get something you really want. This season, I got the unique stone evernight, twice (.5%/3% drop rate). The second one became 200 regeants. I could of traded it for the other unique stone instead of just being disappointed and discouraged. It also enables a new endgame meta of farming for rare loot thats actually worth keeping on to. Iâd make a Caravan style auction house where people would leave offers on your loot kind of like D2jsp without the FG.
2 - Make characters look epic : let me elaborate. In Diablo 2 or even old school wow, when someone with epic end game gear walked in, everyone knew he was elite. A sorc with the infinity aura on her mercenary or a rogue/warrior with the Illidan Glaives for example. This doesnât have to be loot, but cosmetic. You could overtune Lilith to make her a true end game boss you kill once, but then get an Aura, wings, a halo for the rest of the season on that character. Every season (or even the store) could have different endgame aura you can equip once you defeated Lilith.
3 - Runes and sets : This one goes hand in hand with trading. Runes are what made Diablo 2 great. Used both as a currency and equipment. Currently, You do vault of the loom for the 2 unique stones then thatâs it. Imagine instead of costing 1-4-10 pearls to open a chest, the chest drops more/rarer stuff the more pearls you go into your run with. But if you die/get hit by certain mechanics you loose stacks. This is where runes come in. Rune words are exciting. Utilizing Diablo 2 as a reference, they would be super rare but super powerful when combined. They would be that extra step to make your character that much stronger and you guys could balance the endgame around it. And if you get a high rune you donât really need, you can just trade it for something you actually want. If I got a Jah rune in diablo 2, I donât just see it as a high rune, I see it as 1/2 of enigma, I see it as a perfect Mara, itâs basicly Payday. Item sets are similar. Diablo 3 used sets to make some builds âcome onlineâ where normally they wouldnât. Each season you can add/rotate the sets to mix up the meta. If lets say The Tal rasha Set makes sorc Op for Season 1, Sorc items value would sky rocket for the season making sorc the ferrari of classes for the season. Then next season you could add another set that makes druids the top etc. You could even specialize classes like Barb are better for boss killing and necros are better for rune runs. For rune words, Iâd just add 4-6 sockets to most item and let players use legendary items as a base. So aspects would still be relevant (also a very tradeable item). Sets are a bit polarizing. Theyâd be either too strong like in Diablo 3 or outshined by rune words like in Diablo 2. Iâd let sets become rune words in Diablo 4, being the foundation of what makes your build tick and rune words being the proverbial cherry on the sunday. (an example could be 2set Trang-ouls makes your Skeletons into archer 4set give you 2 extra golems 6set mages shoot bonespears and rune words could be as simple as +X to core skill or replace one of your skills for another classes (replace sorc frost Nova for corpse tendril or vice versa)
4 - The Endgame : The moment to moment game play is currently amazing. Thereâs just no carrot on the stick. Just having trading would do wonders to the endgame because at least you can gear up an alt from your mains wealth. But for true end game content I would add a Cap stone Tower. A 100 floor tower you only clear once. (Solo and saves your progression so if you stop at 7 you can come back later and continue at 7) Every 10 floors would have an Uber boss gatekeeping the upper level. (from 50 onward Iâd use name bosses like Andariel-Duriel-Echoe of Asmodan Belial Baal etc). This could increase your cap of Pearls lets say, to increase the number you can use on your rune runs in the vault of the loom for example. The Loop goal would be push Tower to increase your Loot potential, go farm said loot, then come back and push with the fruits of your labour.
5 - Seasonal themes : This is what getting Diablo 4 in hot water at the moment. You guys donât need to reinvent the wheel every season. Iâd keep it more simple and just add more then I replace. We should have access to all that content from season 1 and 2. Itâs just gone to waste at the moment. Yes we would be really overpowered but you can tune the game for said power spike. An expansion should be a reset on the meta and bring back the winners from previous seasons in one form or another.
I Enjoy Diablo 4. Iâve been in love with this franchise for over 25 years. I want this game to thrive like it deserves to. The foundation is there. Weâre just missing that old blizzard magic. The Diablo 4 team has been super responsive to criticizing and I sincerely hope this message is read by the right people.
