- How I'd fix Diablo 4 -

Hopefully Blizzard will read this. . .

1- Bring Trading : Trading is the difference between having a super rare item just sitting in your stash and having a golden ticket to go get something you really want. This season, I got the unique stone evernight, twice (.5%/3% drop rate). The second one became 200 regeants. I could of traded it for the other unique stone instead of just being disappointed and discouraged. It also enables a new endgame meta of farming for rare loot thats actually worth keeping on to. I’d make a Caravan style auction house where people would leave offers on your loot kind of like D2jsp without the FG.

2 - Make characters look epic : let me elaborate. In Diablo 2 or even old school wow, when someone with epic end game gear walked in, everyone knew he was elite. A sorc with the infinity aura on her mercenary or a rogue/warrior with the Illidan Glaives for example. This doesn’t have to be loot, but cosmetic. You could overtune Lilith to make her a true end game boss you kill once, but then get an Aura, wings, a halo for the rest of the season on that character. Every season (or even the store) could have different endgame aura you can equip once you defeated Lilith.

3 - Runes and sets : This one goes hand in hand with trading. Runes are what made Diablo 2 great. Used both as a currency and equipment. Currently, You do vault of the loom for the 2 unique stones then that’s it. Imagine instead of costing 1-4-10 pearls to open a chest, the chest drops more/rarer stuff the more pearls you go into your run with. But if you die/get hit by certain mechanics you loose stacks. This is where runes come in. Rune words are exciting. Utilizing Diablo 2 as a reference, they would be super rare but super powerful when combined. They would be that extra step to make your character that much stronger and you guys could balance the endgame around it. And if you get a high rune you don’t really need, you can just trade it for something you actually want. If I got a Jah rune in diablo 2, I don’t just see it as a high rune, I see it as 1/2 of enigma, I see it as a perfect Mara, it’s basicly Payday. Item sets are similar. Diablo 3 used sets to make some builds “come online” where normally they wouldn’t. Each season you can add/rotate the sets to mix up the meta. If lets say The Tal rasha Set makes sorc Op for Season 1, Sorc items value would sky rocket for the season making sorc the ferrari of classes for the season. Then next season you could add another set that makes druids the top etc. You could even specialize classes like Barb are better for boss killing and necros are better for rune runs. For rune words, I’d just add 4-6 sockets to most item and let players use legendary items as a base. So aspects would still be relevant (also a very tradeable item). Sets are a bit polarizing. They’d be either too strong like in Diablo 3 or outshined by rune words like in Diablo 2. I’d let sets become rune words in Diablo 4, being the foundation of what makes your build tick and rune words being the proverbial cherry on the sunday. (an example could be 2set Trang-ouls makes your Skeletons into archer 4set give you 2 extra golems 6set mages shoot bonespears and rune words could be as simple as +X to core skill or replace one of your skills for another classes (replace sorc frost Nova for corpse tendril or vice versa)

4 - The Endgame : The moment to moment game play is currently amazing. There’s just no carrot on the stick. Just having trading would do wonders to the endgame because at least you can gear up an alt from your mains wealth. But for true end game content I would add a Cap stone Tower. A 100 floor tower you only clear once. (Solo and saves your progression so if you stop at 7 you can come back later and continue at 7) Every 10 floors would have an Uber boss gatekeeping the upper level. (from 50 onward I’d use name bosses like Andariel-Duriel-Echoe of Asmodan Belial Baal etc). This could increase your cap of Pearls lets say, to increase the number you can use on your rune runs in the vault of the loom for example. The Loop goal would be push Tower to increase your Loot potential, go farm said loot, then come back and push with the fruits of your labour.

5 - Seasonal themes : This is what getting Diablo 4 in hot water at the moment. You guys don’t need to reinvent the wheel every season. I’d keep it more simple and just add more then I replace. We should have access to all that content from season 1 and 2. It’s just gone to waste at the moment. Yes we would be really overpowered but you can tune the game for said power spike. An expansion should be a reset on the meta and bring back the winners from previous seasons in one form or another.

I Enjoy Diablo 4. I’ve been in love with this franchise for over 25 years. I want this game to thrive like it deserves to. The foundation is there. We’re just missing that old blizzard magic. The Diablo 4 team has been super responsive to criticizing and I sincerely hope this message is read by the right people.

Very similar to this: Problem with D4 is incorporating to much D3 and not enough D2

in a nutshell I want D4 gameplay with D2 loot

Runes are overrated, they’re the icing on the cake. The problem starts with the classes, the base toolkit is underwhelming, at least they should bring it up to D3 levels cause this just isn’t fun to play.
This goes for the disappointment boards aswell, if i take a legendary node i should at least know i have it without having to open the the paragon tab.

Will you not remove ‘crashes’ ?

Only the barbs who keep charging the mobs off screen

Blizzard’s confident designer, unable to listen to player suggestions.

There are already many similar suggestions.

Currently, three seasons have passed. It has been 9 months now and the creative content is still wild and unrestrained.

I honestly can barely see the gear I’m wearing. I don’t really care how my character looks to be honest while I’m barely even looking at it.

I think the endgame is absolutely bare minimum atm. It isn’t great but it’s decent if you’ve never played before I guess.

I think the only way to fix this game is to continue taking a bulldozer to aspects of it and hope we get something resembling Diablo eventually.

Would love it, bring back the online anarchy of D2 please.

With todays mega business for items I suspect the 3rd party sales to be in the multi millions but with D4 being the absolute disaster that it is why not try it?

Why not let the flood loose and see if there is a massive player base that arrives and a massive amount of cash that starts flowing? Then being the owner of the game I’m sure Blizzard can find ways to make it work to their advantage.

One fundamental thing I feel was lost with D3 and has not come back with D4 is aggression and risk. D2 was built on this. My decked out sorc can still die in 0.2 seconds to fana might extra fast stygian dolls while I search for mephisto. I can avoid them if im fast and skillful, but slight mismanagement of positioning and boom: dead.

Still I teleport agressively with 105 fcr because I wanna reach Meph in 25 seconds rather than 29, just like I wanna run the 100 in 10.5 rather than 12.5. Human nature.

In d3 and d4 they have killed this. There is no aggression left and no risk anymore.

I would love to see them let this loose again and not cave into people complaining that their character died and now want a revive skill with cooldown (that they will later want to have cooldown reduction on… etc etc).

I think that business wise there is more ground to be had by letting the chaos loose than this. Selling of cosmetics could also go through the roof cause all the dupers and botters can never create new cosmetics - that can only be done by blizz.

I feel like trading in some shape or form would keep the game alive in the end game. You say you ran Meph runs. I spammed cow levels on Necro or Jav zon for Hrs so I could roll CTAs. You can get infinity for a 6/6 CTA. This pseudo Solo self-found D4 has will be a key player in its downfall.
I just got my 2 Unique stone + grandfather today. I have no reason to do the season boss anymore, which is a shame because it’s actually a fun encounter. If I could farm those stones I could send one to an alt, trade a pair for shaco or some other Uber.
The gauntlet won’t help, it will just be a difficulty spike where you need to play a Meta build or just be wasting your time (probably)

Until they give us MUCH better itemization and even a loot filter, all of this can wait. It took little time for me to roll my eyes when I ran my first NM of the season and I had to sift through my filled bags after one run.

Than God it’s not up to neither D2, PoE nor D3 fans to “fix” D4.

We are one season away from seeing the direction of itemisation and crafting……good or bad.

Season 4 will in essence bring a clear view of where Blizzard what’s these system to be longer term. They have had a chance to review, gather feedback and now make the big changes.

No on full trade. No on rezzing D2 into D4. just alot of no to this thread. no no no no no
