How much health does he have and how much damage does he do? Level 91 and want to start farming him. But would rather not wasting the igneous cores just to find out I can’t touch him. Think I killed him before patch 1.3 or whatever. But apprehensive now.
It’s hard to say. I’d wait until you get to 100 with some decent gear before doing him. It would suck to waste the cores, because they’re a pain to farm.
The fire trap in particular can be painful until you get used to the fight.
How does he compare to the other Ubers and Lilith? I’ve beaten them in previous seasons.
It’s honestly not a hard fight. It’s just that the traps can do a ton of damage. And if you die, then you lose some of your stacks of warding, which you need to open the chests - and the big chest is the only real reason to run Malphas, because it has the best chance to drop the named stones.
Unlike most fights, there is a penalty for dying in this one. So if you want to maximize your resources it’s best to wait until you know you can beat him without dying.
Your other option would be to just stack a ton of warding, but that uses up your pearls. They’re easier to get than the cores though.
cores are a pain to farm, lmfao, farming cores is the easiest thing for s3, ive got like 500 of them lol
Didn’t the drop rate decrease though? I’m only seeing maybe half or fewer of the brazier triggers drop one.
I’ve gone through almost 500 cores. The issue is you need 2 stones. And each run you have a 3.5% drop chance.
My nearly 500 cores has gotten me one Evernight. That’s it. It’s tough to find Malphas groups (unlike Duriel). So burning through your cores doesn’t take long.
But I’ve got over 300 pearls. So maybe I just need to use a bunch of those.
ive only tried him twice lol, he flattened me both times, although 1 time he and the butcher spawned at the same time and i didnt stand a chance, i was dead before i knew what hit me lol
They’re talking about Echo of Malphas(aka Uber) - not Son of…
The Loom.
Can’t answer that but HIS damage isn’t too bad. The Pillars and his attacks associated with them can hurt.
The fight isn’t too bad overall. Avoid AOE’s.
You can select which Pillar is active. Some like lightning, I personally prefer cold.
Fire can melt you.
I hadn’t realized they’d raised the boss to lvl 100 and went in with my not fully farmed out Meteor Sorc at lvl 85.
Fight was miserable, ran through pots. Didn’t die but without pots it was bad.
Let him kill me to reset.
IF you have trouble with him here’s what I did…
Senechal Construct: Set up for pure utility.
2 Governing Stones I used: Protector and Reconstruct.
Little guy basically kept me shielded and healed. I think I used 2-3 pots when damage spiked~precautionary & reactionary.
Otherwise the Construct is a huge help if you have issues(barring sleeping on obvious mechanics and not avoiding them).
Personally I find it to be an easy fight. My barb one shots him but that doesn’t really count.
My druid as I was still working out how to play a druid at first took a while to kill malphas. The fight is basically don’t stand in the fire. He spawns towers that do various elemental damage, lightin, ice, fire, poison. You kill the towers and the damage stops and the next one spawns. But they always spawn in order and in the exact same spot. The towers have low health so the whole fight is run in a circle kill the towers, whack him a bit until the next tower is up then kill that tower, run to the next quadrant and keep doing that til he’s dead. The elemental damage does but hard and can one shot you if you’re not geared but the towers go down so fast it barely has a chance to get a shot off.
I’m not sure, I face tank him for like 10 seconds before he is dead on my barb at level 90. your class/gear and so forth will bring different results.
It is much, much, easier then Lilith
Malphas isn’t difficult. It’s the chore of a dungeon that’s he in. Just collect four items over and over, bro!
Yep. Malphas is just like probably Duriel at this point in terms of difficulty.
In fact, even farming mats is almost similar in tediousness. Farming mats for Duriel is zzz. Farming mats for Malphas is another zzz. The biggest challenge is being awake farming these mats.
I usually watch unusual crime scenes when doing these so I can stay awake.
it really is a freaking snooze bro. 3% droprate on the stones is BAD. REALLY BAD.
I made a question from my friend who was level 100 when i was level 90. He said he has beaten it around level 93.
I had clues then. Vault of Loom is just level 100 with level 100 mobs. It’s not a NM100. It’s equivalent only to NM46.
I was doing NM80 with level 134 mobs at level 90 then. Even if Malphas as tough as from NM60 dungeon, i should be able to handle him.
But i did Vault of Loom at level 93. The whole vault was easy as cake until Malphas fight. My build was not that good on Single Target DPS. It was a close fight. I had 2 potions left when i had him 10% hp left after dodging a lot of poops as i still got hit from time to time.
Then i ran out of potions… good thing i have an orb and a potion dropped from the fight enough for me to kill him before he could kill me.
It was a good fight but i never tried him again for awhile becoz his Unique stones were not my priority.
I did him again at level 100 but i had already beaten NM100 that time. I found the loots on Vault of Loom with Malphas not that exciting since he and his mobs are just level 100, not level 154.
The fight when i was level 100 is okay. He still can punch back but my toon is now way tougher.
Last night, my friend did Vault of Loom with me. We splitted the rooms. Son of Malphas popped out on my first room. I just skipped him becoz i didnt want my friend to wait for me wasting my time on him. Then when my friend got together heading towards Malphas, freaking Butcher popped out. I thought he killed my buddy becoz my buddy disappeared. His Xbox crashed. Ouch. Anyway, i sniped and killed the Butcher. And waited for my buddy to come back. I reinvited him again and we proceed to kill Malphas. And Malphas died. My buddy got nothing becoz his ward buff went out when his Xbox crashed. I still dont have the Unique stone. Oh well.
I’m level 100 druid with 925 gear, I can close 90 NM vault and kill all other bosses without problem. Still cannot kill this boss. Tried 2 different builds. Werewolf tornado and pulverize. All resists are caped. Trying for 2 days in a row without success. My best attempt was about 20% and running out od potions. Would much appreciated any advice.
Just go in a full party … Easy kill …
You need to kill the towers around the edges of the arena , if you can not one shot Malphas aka the fight takes longer
