How does "When you freeze an enemy, do X damage to them" proc?

This is a codex aspect. for me, if I put it on a piece of gear it says I will deal 1869 damage to them.

Is that it? Just an added 1869 damage total?

Or is that some sort of base number, like, say… weapon damage which then gets crit chance, vulnerable damage, overpower chance and all the multipliers etc etc?

Depends.

Must be 20 characters.

do you want to tell us what aspect you specifically are talking about?
no offense here, but it helps A LOT when you are being SPECIFIC, when you are asking for help.

Hell, I didn’t even get a class. I assume it’s Sorc.

That’s why I responded with “Depends”.

Oh yes, of course, sorry. The aspect name was not printed on the gear. I had to go hunting my codex for it. It is called “Winter Touch Aspect”. And yes, I am a sorcerer

Guess I should have led with that…

When you Freeze an enemy, it takes that damage as Cold damage.

It counts as a Frost skill, so all Paragon and boosts to Frost skills, as well as Cold damage will increase it.

Good for trash mobs, not good for bosses.

Thanks for the answer.

But what I’m wondering (because I still don’t get the damage system very well) is, does that damage count as “hits”? I mean for purposes of critical strikes and the like? would/could this damage get those bonuses as well?

I’m not sure if that particular Aspect can Crit or not. It should be able to Crit though. Mainly it’s only Damage Over Time that can’t Crit.

It will pick up damage from Vulnerable, Crowd Control, %Damage while Frozen, etc.

It is a base number that then gets modified by your modifiers.

Yes, it is a hit.

Flat X damage numbers were changed and should Snapshot properly now. This means that any Additive or Multiplicative Damage bonuses should apply to it. The damage reflected is similar to the Base Damage of a Skill. Whether it actually works or not is entirely another thing.
