How does Vampiric work?

It seems that elites almost randomly get a bunch of HP back depending on…something. Is there some sort of formula that dictates when the Vampiric affix will activate? Doesn’t seem to be on every hit, because I’m sure I’ve gotten hit multiple times by elites with vampiric and nothing happens…until it does and they refill their HP by a crapton.

Just trying to make sure I can avoid triggering it in the future.

Thanks,

When the elite mob cast its vampiric aura thingy, its next attack will restore its HP. Just run from it when it casts its vampiric aura thingy until it fades.

I’m too slow to notice if and when an aura pops up. I guess I’ll try to pay attention next time, lol.

They make a very distinct sound effect as the indicator.

I think they glow red.

I’ve never noticed it being cast or anything. I just thought it was a random proc. Seems to heal for 50% of their HP.

Sound effect AND the monster in question is glowing red when its about to hit you with that vampiric attack

It’s not vampiric only. Many Barbs playing paramedic for monsters using rupture which heals them pretty good.

That said: fix that stuff.

that’s baloney

it’s very difficult to see, especially with all the other non sense going on

I observed this even on elites which doesn’t have vampiric affix on them.
Which is freaking annoying.

Happens way too often that i damage an elite, it’s HP drops, and on the next sec it jumps back to the state before i damaged it.
And just the same with suddenly invincible enemies. Their HP drops to around 20-25% and woops now they can’t be killed. Only after i die and respawn they melt like butter.

The Vampiric does do something before the vampiric actually works, but when I see Vampiric I automatically go into panic mode because he is going to literally suck the life out of me and kill me and from the start I assumed Vampiric meant they are going to hit you hard over a period of time and do it with each hit

it very difficult to see and as such difficult to avoid
