How does the free battle pass still not have currency?

I mean, even Overwatch has 600 coins per season just by completing it. With the cost of cosmetics for this game AND the $70 price tag…what is the hold up exactly? People really buy a ton of cosmetics still?

This dev team is lost.

So they can get you to replace the “cost” of the free battlepass by buying plats.

It just makes no sense when even their other games are adapting. They really lost a lot of money with this game it seems, trying to make up for it.

Did they though???

PS - this article was as of September, 2024.

Seems you answered your own question there. Just enough to get the sale.

everyone should get a clearer picture of how much they spend by displaying real money next to the platinum.

Europe Is Cracking Down on Misleading Microtransactions in Online Games

The new EU guidelines introduce seven key principles that developers and publishers are encouraged to follow:

  1. Prices for in-game items must be clear and transparent.
  2. Hiding the true cost of items through obscure virtual currency systems should be avoided.
  3. Players shouldn’t be forced into buying more virtual currency than they need.
  4. All key purchase details should be disclosed before any transaction.
  5. Players must retain their legal rights, including the right to withdraw from a purchase.
  6. Contracts should be fair and written in simple, clear language.
  7. Game design should consider and respect vulnerable users, including children.

Huge win for gaming. I have no problems spending money on a game, but premium currency should never have been a thing.

Imagine wanting government involved in gaming to that extent.

Imagine trying to tell a business how to run there business

well, it has to be seen. I personally like this change as well - but it also can have negative effects for us. We have to see how companies will adapt to that.

As for OP… Lol. Sorry you want free platinum i guess.

right, consumers deserve transparency when making transactions.

imagine gaming microtransactions becoming so manipulative, obfuscating, and confusing players to the point where the government has to step in.

Just look at diablo immortal or the gacha games everywhere now, lots of people willing to throw that money away it seems

Imagine having control of your own purchases to the point you don’t have to support that level of manipulation. Further yet, imagine a market driven by consumers that have accepted and condoned that manipulation by continuing to purchase products and support the manipulators. Just food for thought.

Accepted and condoned it? It’s like the biggest issue in the world … I’m sure people in China working for slave wages in order not to starve just accepted and condoned it lol.

I’m not sure what that has to do with cash shops in video games, but you do you.

It’s a predatory practice no difference at all they target the poor and uneducated. How is the cash shop any different? Kids and dumb adults … and it correlates because without strict laws that would be the normal everywhere

It’s a recreational luxury item, not a necessity. You can never buy another game again and live a full productive life. I don’t buy cosmetics from cash shops or their currency despite having plenty of disposable income. To me it’s wasteful. Fools and their money. For kids, where are the parents? Letting the government handle that?

Why do we have labor laws now? Why is there an age limit to gambling? Why is legal drinking age 21? Because laws are needed in order to stop greedy people from taking advantage of people to dumb to know it’s happening. Same here sadly
