Just curious from people who have actually played this season with BL or both, compared to build guides I see before the season even started.
From what I see in these guides, they say BL is supposed to do insane single target boss dmg, but I feel like this may be a stretch?
I use a Blood Lance + Blood Orb; Corpse Explosion; full minion build with Ring of Sacriligious and Black River.
I can do T65. Definitly not meta, but its very fun to me.
Played BL on this season, Pit tier 55 is okey… Boss damage is the main reason that I didnt push more.
Its under 5mins to get in boss room.
Wow, is boss dmg really that bad on Blood Lance these days?
Ugh…why does it feel like there are only a couple viable builds to push 61+ pit this season.
I do kinda like Blight but it’s been since S1 when I played that and the pools felt real small and the dmg wasn’t there.
It’s all about minions now it seems, to do any respectable dmg?
Blood lance is my favorit non-minion build… But blood skills (mainly blood lance) are too underpowered on this season… Are non reason for play with him, because’s too weak in comparison to any other build… including blood surge.
You should give blight another shot. Most of your damage comes from Ebonpiercer and blight is just a vehicle to procc it, meaning you don’t rely on the small puddle but it’s more like a shotgun.
The build starts out weaker but skyrockets once you have high intelligence (2600-3000). Wither’s scaling is bonkers. You’ll see dots tick for hundreds of millions.
Blight is bonkers-powerful.
I like blood lance because i get to also heal my minions via Apect that consumes blood orbs and turn it into lances.
Black River corpse explosion detonates 4 bodies at a time with 30% chance to generate Blood Orbs. Then the Blood Orbs is consumed and shoots our their own lances - cooldown reduction 2.5 seconds each while healing minons and generating barrier for myself.
Very fun. The whole map explodes. (Black river 100% + Temper 100% increased radius.)
while technically not blight-focused, i have some ebonpiercer demo on tormented andariel and pit 95 on reddit. see if u like this playstyle. it’s that strong.

I’ll look into this as the blight puddles are closest thing I feel similar to D2’s poison theme. I guess blood surge is kinda similar but Blight did grow on me in S1.
So for it to do dmg we need to play in melee to shotgun? Hmmm…that’s a kind of caster playstyle I generally dislike.
What does Ebonpiercer do? I guess Blight on its own isn’t very good then?
Is that the weapon that shoots 4-5 Blights at a time, what the above poster was talking about where we shotgun the dmg in melee range?
Black River + Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul are great early on. They keep up Flesh Eater but first and foremost, they generate 30 essence per second. Once you have upgraded essence/second and essence cost reduction rolls on your gear, you can replace both and use a 2h scythe. Ebonpiercer is what’s shooting four “shotgun” projectiles.
