Spiritborn’s gameplay feels similar to crusader. Not 1 for 1 obviously. I have only taken the barbarian class all the way but I have noticed every class has a distinct feel to its play.
I think crusader play style more so fits Diablo 4’s fast pace gameplay but I wonder if it would just feel like a Spiritborn with a knight transmog on.
I believe it needs to have a high impact hit strength class feel. The way barb…sometimes…does…
People are going to say “tanky” but that’s a given as barb already is plenty tanky with fortify. I assume the holy knight class will likely also make use of fortify.
Stormshield should become a mythic unique and you need to add a mythic unique flail as well. These mythics also need to not suck. You are capable of making mythics that don’t suck.
Like a warrior in poe 2, but not as slow and with crusader powers obviously,
I want to real time block and raise my shield and stuff like that, and wind up flail attacks.
I want it to feel tactical to play, fluid and yet have something new about it.
In general if they could make the characters move and cast while walking across the board and create a version of gear attacks, that could be cool, doing in the style of D4 ofc.
End of the day though that is wishful thinking most likely, but i think it will be fun enough what ever they are making, as it has been so far.
Seeing how the speels and mercs work, i do enjoy the wat we can customise our skill/powers in interesting ways and i am all for more of it.
I think sub powers that we could attach to skills could be cool, so we have a main catalyst power on the bar, and smaller spells maybe one or two more could be unlocked and added to the Skill bar. Using this s9 powers as example only.
They only other thing with power’s while i am here i would suggest, is something for melee range, even propulsion is cast at a distance with a melee weapon, so some choice for close quakers powers would be cool.
Well we know we’re getting at least one new class with the expansion. These threads pop up periodically until we know exactly what we’re getting. No one saw the Spiritborn coming mind you, aside from when the name was leaked. People want a Paladin/Holy Warrior type, but who knows what we’ll get.
We all know the game is in a messy toilet state no one who brings up paladin/crusader is crying. You bumbling oaf. Stumbled in here “Duhhh crying duhhh!!”
Hella classes would be more fun honestly, look at games like bg3, world of warcraft, poe2, etc, it at least allows less diversity in each individual class
Tankier than a barb but does slightly less damage, more focused on armor and defense along with auras for offense and defense. we need an aura skill tree branch (or 2, 1 offense, 1 defense branch) with at least 6 auras, fire, cold, lightning, health regen, mana regen, damage increase. we need a shield throw, fist of heavens, shield bash, blessed hammer, and sweep?(forgot the name) and maybe another physical skill as core skills. Should be a half caster type class, close to mid range magic or physical, one ultimate should be similar to akarats champion, heavens fury (holy cataclysm basically) and bombardment (holy meteor shower) plus something new.
Should also have a utility branch with steed charge, phlanax, provoke, consecration, and whatever else
One paragon board needs to allow you to hold a 2 handed weapon in one hand at 80% damage(probably needs to be even less since 2 handers get double the effect). Another should be 20% more damage with a 1 handed weapon and shield.
1 aspect/unique needs to turn phlanax into a core skill and a pair of unique gloves needs to turn it into horses that charge forward for a pretty unique build (my personal favorite in d3). A unique that allows both an offensive and defensive aura to be active. Another pair of gloves should turn phlanax permanent. Plus whatever others from previous games and whatever new ideas they cook up, those are just the ones i want
Well we could be at least be sure, that it will be a strength or willpower class.
Both would speak for a Paladin type.
I think, it will be a Paladin D2 type with a quest in the expansion to find the last Paladin bla bla choose wisely bla bla and don’t bring the grail forth and so on.
I mean, it would be a big commitment for the hungry D2 fanbase (including myself).
There’s currently a quest in the game right now that tells you what happened to the Paladins. Been in the game since the base game launched mind you. Just one of those side quests that gives a little bit more lore to the whole thing.
We very well could get a holy warrior of some sort in some fashion, but we could also get something else entirely. Keep in mind strength and wisdom both only have one class associated to that stat. Where int and dex have two.
Were you honestly expecting another dex based class when Spiritborn was announced? Just saying, its best to keep the expectations in check on this one.
Is there? I thought, they made that clear in D3.
But as always, in a fantasy world no lore has to be written in stone. If you want something you find a way to make it work in a world with angels and demons. Even if it sounds absurd in the end.
I would like or can imagine a class, that uses both attributes. Would be something new and could be interesting. Willpower for a more Aura type, strength for some weapon/ shield action.
I want to say it’s called “Lost Legacy” side quest in Hawezar that goes over the last of the paladins and what happened to them. Was an interesting quest. I remember doing it way back, so the details are a little fuzzy. I’d have to do it again.
Honestly IDK, probably some kind of choice between empowering hammer or spear for start
I remember talking about a potential Inquisitor class back before Necro was announced as 5th class, the way I imagined was “battle tactics” and “superiority”, the first one emphasized on disabling monsters on a more individual basis and the second one on empowering a next attack
But since then the game became a lot more about blasting and a lot less about attrition and fights of type 1vFew/1
I know I don’t want half of the class to resemble around auras though. That’s for certain
