There is an anime that has a character that mispronounces Necromancer as Neckwearmancer lol.
Btw Sorc is not a standard english dictionary word/term. Sorceress/Sorcery is.
Specs is a standard dictionary term/word and means spectacles or specifications. I would say, that the k there is understandable. Specification and spectacle are both rooted in (roman) latin (specere = look on) and there the c was always spoken as k. The circus was the kirkus. The modern spoken c came up in the medieval era.
So you may speak Sors as Sork it is not false to pronounce it Sor"s" because the full spoken term is Sor"s"eress and it would be much more intuitive for a short term to be pronounced as the original.
I think, at least at the second part, Sor"s"eress we all can agree on.
This is a non-serious post, we dont need to surgically dissect the word and get into the nuance of the English language to arrive at a correct conclusion.
Turn off your brain, participate in the stupidity of the post by picking an arbitrary side, offer a cockamamie defense, and then enjoy.
And its actually Sorque, like Cirque Du Soleil
I accept that. Doesn’t bother me either.
And thinking for me is play and work, so no worries, i lived that way many years.
I’ve always pronounced it as “sauce” like the tomato variety.
I say Sork, for Obvious reasons.
Like that.
it’s just how it is
Wiz or Mage rarely Sorcerer
I don’t think I’ve ever actually used the abbreviated form in speech.
Worst parents in the world if they let their babies play d4. I pretty much alt f4 out straight away when the kids come in.
Real first world problem too, i really have my eye on the pop up parade lilith figure (look it up), but with kids there’s simply things i just cant have anymore ;(
When you say “wiz” or “Mage” or any kind of magic term, your Obviously talking about me.
Sork
It’s the only way. A kitten dies if you say it any other way
Save a kitten, say Sork!
Anyone who disagrees never played diablo 2 when it first came out.
Its Source all you D3 fans.
The one guy a few posts above explains it better as i have been over this argument many times.
Learn English, there is a reason it has the dumbest rules for a language on the planet.
Me speak English gooder, and its Sork. No one cares about all that nerd reasoning.
It’s pronounced Sorceress. Or sorcerer if that’s your thing.
You say Dr. Dolittle as DOCTOR Dolittle not DERH Dolittle.
I swear some of you are sitting home and wondering, like: “How could I stir up on the forum this time?”
But it’s a soft C not a hard C. So it’s source not sork.
When me and another provided legit answers to why its source per english language and its rules, we get told.
Lol nerds im not reading all that its SoRk screw your reasoning.
These forums are amazing. Next step is they report us for being correct.
Nice response, Karen. Your answers arent legitimate for an abbreviation that doesnt even exist in dictionaries or have any formal acknowledgement outside of fantasy circles. Sure, you can apply standard convention for how it is likely pronounced, but even then, are you really THAT much of a Karen to get uppity about it with
Kids are having fun at a park somewhere, in case you need to go bust that up.
