I was hoping it will never happen again but if it does happen that it will be like how Diablo 2 solved it.
You wanted high runes?
Go kill anything anywhere.
You wanted a slightly higher chance to find a high rune, like really slightly not really noticable?
Go farm cows or cs.
It just feels weird killing Uber Bosses and getting spammed with the same random Uniques over and over hoping for that one Uber Unique.
Let me do NMDs, Cellars etc. with the same drop chance as Duriel has for Uber Uniques.
I really enjoyed the Terror Zones in D2R LoD. It basically turned random zones into Terror Zones and increased drop chance for specific uniques like Griffon etc. in that area. It didn’t remove old contant (cows, cs, pindle, at runs,…) but it opened new ways to grind for the same gear.
I can’t wrap my head around this isn’t in D4. I think target farming Ubers is so boring and I am not even talking about the disadvantage solo players have in compared to group play (4 spawns in group vs 1 spawn solo) because we are at a point in this game we are so far to balance solo and group play in 2024.
Replace “runes” with Ubers or Uniques and this is 100% how it is in-game right now.
Just because the drop chance is ungodly low doesn’t mean you can’t find an uber or unique out in the world. Ubers start dropping at level 55 IIRC and Uniques even sooner.
Not as brain numbing as looping bosses you can oneshot to turn their mats into mats for higher in the ladder. If you can beat a boss in 2 seconds you should be able to just trade their mats in for the mats they drop lol
Boss spam farming is probably one of the worst things to come out of Diablo2.
In Diablo 1 it didn’t really matter. The difference between opening a chest and killing Diablo himself was minimal. This made every enemy and every kill a potential dopamine hit and not the hopeful let down kind you get from bosses. The kind where you’re just adventuring along and go “Holy crap a Storm Shield!”.
The level difficulty was 90% of what determined loot. No matter what you were doing.
Strongly agreed.
That is the best way to do target farming.
Worst way is; If you want currency or item X, then go do activity Y. Which is most of D4 currently.
All items should have somewhat similar chances to drop everywhere.
The chance sould take time spent into account of course, like if you can kill 1000 normal monsters in the time it takes to get access to, and kill, Duriel, then he obviously should have at least 1000 times better droprate than normal mobs.
But for time spent, it should not be drastically better to farm Duriel than to farm NMDs, Helltides etc. Fine if it is somewhat better (like twice as likely to get uniques from Duriel than NMD in an hour of farming etc.), just not so much better that the other activities are irrelevant.
Yeah, also agreed. That was a good idea.
Helltides are not a terrible idea either, they are somewhat similar. My main issue with Helltides is exactly that they REPLACE the existing areas, rather than enhance them.
They could as well have been a separate thing that you entered through a portal, with no relation to the area they are in.
Boss spam farming = Super Boring and not guaranteed
Farming Iron Wolves = Gets boring and is guaranteed. I don’t farm the Blood Maiden on Repeat.
Since a friend and I killed Duriel an insane amount of times last season and I only got 1 uber to their 5. I will gladly take the Iron Wolves farm method.
