How do the death trap rogues defend using shako

I dont understand why all the death trap rogues want shako so bad? I mean the helm itself is great, but you lose the legendary aspect that gives shadows on crit. And with temperings i get like over 200% increased dmg per shadow and shadows are always maxed at 5 when i fight. That means like 50% dmg reduction as well as 1000% damage. How can shako beat that?

I play with shrouds in the bar. Shako offers 20% dmg reduction, together with the reduction from armor and pants you can’t really get hurt any more. Plus fortify or barrier. Last def, first single player.

It also reduces cc of the trap via affix and via +4 skills. Plus it gives you enough resources to reach 275. Or at least reach it easier.

Plus a lot of armor and life for overpower.

Shako is pretty good due to its + to max resources. On DT if you want to use Banished lords you want to have at least 275

there are also variants that let you use heir of perdition, but then you might get into trouble with your Cool down reductions if you dont pay attention enough to that.

I have all of that on a legendary. I have a legendary helm with GA max resource and cooldown reduction. And on top of that the aspect that gives free shadows. But ppl still say shako is better. I dont get it based on all i lose as i posted in first post.

Play like you like it the most. You could test and compare.

there really are multiple ways to build it. For pure dmg there are better choices for sure. If you go for serious pit pushing you will have to get your cdr and resources from other items, as youll want to use heir of perdition.

You will find the +4 to DT is multiplicative and adds to cooldown. Once you hit 275 resource you will overpower every time with Banished Lords. That alone gives you more overall damage and enough to kill fast enough to not need the extra DR.

Damage per Dark Shroud Shadow (or Overpower damage on items) is rather insignificant compared to Overpower damage from max life and Fortify (getting nerfed in 2.3.0).

You can just put Dark Shroud on your skill bar. Poison Trap, Caltrops, and Smoke Grenade are redundant for speed farming where monsters die in one DT anyway.

i use a rune word for it if i feel like i need the extra dmg reduction, which really only is the case for lilith to be fair.

and agreed, dmg per dark shroud is insignifcant compared to OP

  • every cast of DT resets the shrouds. So you also always have the max amount. No lucky hit needed any more.

I just got finished helping my sister with her Death Trap setup, and she needed a Shako pretty badly to get over 275 max resource. Luckily enough, she got a triple crit on Max Resource that was also GA. Now she can stop being Guy in our little group. Guy is what we call the person with the most deaths for the night.

Tried the potion with ressource? Triple crit is not necessarily needed.

A double crit would have been enough, but I told her she might as well finish Masterworking it after finally getting that double crit, and it just naturally hit it again. With one crit, she was at 269 Energy with a potion and ten stacks of Momentum. She’s well above 275 now. She also got her CD down low enough that she was able to swap out a ring for Ring of Starless Skies. All she needs now is to find herself a Doombringer.

Some People (me incl.) which are ofc only 0.00001% of the DIV players… all other do their own builds… are looking at the meta-builds of maxroll. Et voila there you will see the Shako :see_no_evil: May :honeybee: its also about having MOAR max resource.

I have one but i use Heir of Perdition and an other dt-build.

He’s fishing for information to give blizzard more reasons to do more nerfs. This is a troll post.

If you don’t use EXACTLY what the streamer told you to use you will not be able to play the game. :hamster:
