How do I make my minions not behave like they are drunk?

From Blizzards site: “Necromancers are cunning summoners that conjure vengeful hordes of the undead.”

Too bad they forgot to mention that those supposed vengeful hordes of undead randomly run around attacking pointless garbage like walls and eggs at best or stand around with their thumbs up their butt doing absolutely nothing at worst. Good thing it takes 2 skill slots to have these idiots summoned!

Well, if you take a curse they might pay attention to something in the huge circle curse you summon – or they might continue to run around like headless chickens & then stand around like bums waiting for a handout.

Who knows? Blizzard doesn’t. The Summoner doesn’t. It effectively a coin toss if they will actually be useful in a fight, or if they will split between 5 different elites and you have to dodge & weave for 5 minutes until all of them go down at the same time… instead of focusing damage to make it easier to take them down individually, like every other class, and every non-minion necro spec.

See, that’s the neat thing. You don’t.

The only thing they want us to summon are bone spears.

There is a perfectly reasonable in game explanation for this: we are not the Nephalim of past games.

Our necrothey/themcer this go around is a rank amateur who has only just figured out how summon them, not actually able to command them. They are brainless bone men ( or women?) after all. Maybe in season 7, our necrothey/themcer might actually get past the “introduction to necromancy” part in their book of the dead and learn how to actually control the retards.

I really liked the summoned build but this is the reason i went bonespear after hitting 100
If the pet management was a bit better i would have stuck with it.

The curse only makes them attack the cursed target if they are idle. They don’t become a priority target, and even if they did, it wouldn’t matter because it’s best to have every enemy on screen cursed anyways.

Blizzard should implement target priorities for the minions. Something like:
1 Attack elites
2 No elites, attack high damage mobs
3 No high damage, attack regular mobs
4 No regular mobs, attack environment (walls and other stuff)

Of course, not so simple, but not just “attack nearest target” or whatever AI they put on them.

Blizzard could even allow you to personalize the AI of your minions in the book of the dead setting behaviors like choosing one of:
1 Attack everything is sight
2 Attack only when character attacks first
3 Attack only close enemies
And so on…

I can still curse targets and not have my minions engage target. The mobs still stand around doing fock all until I get proximity aggro. What exactly changed?

I think there is a range component at play too. They do not seem to engage cursed targets that are more than X distance away from the player. I am not sure what X is.

It is fine that enemies can shoot us from off screen, but we cannot even get minions to engage enemies that are on screen… Then again, I have had them refuse attack things right next to me or have most of them stuck in a doorway.

Most fun with this is when you attack a bone pile or some object and the golem just run around in circles around it…
