How come there is a Hardcore Mode, but no Softcore Mode?

Softcore Mode would be when you choose to be immortal, taking no damage, and you one shot everything. You can still go up Torment levels to get the best loot, but you will never die, never take damage, and you one shot everything. Also, there would be exclusive Softcore Mode titles like, “Cuddly Teddy Bear” and “I Need My Binky.” While in Softcore Mode you could also be distinguished by having some pretty balloons tied around your waste with a “It’s My Birthday” sign floating behind you with the balloons, or something like that…

It’s time to be truly inclusive of all players regardless of skill level and implement the Softcore Mode!

In the old days, you could play video games in “God mode” where you kill everything and never get killed. That’s probably the best way to RUIN a game, as you’ll lose interest since there’s nothing more to explore and you’ve seen it all.

“normal mode” + “eternal realm” = “softcore”. whatever you do you don’t die, only need to respawn and voila, there you go again. no consequence. you also can go on building your character and piling gold and gear forever, basically. unlike in seasons.

like you were crystallised in a place out of time and out of where things happen, untouched by any change or event, never dealing with time and other things affecting hc or season players.

Non-“hardcore” mode is softcore mode. In fact, that’s what it’s referred to as in conversation.

What you’re looking for is “narrative” mode.

What about Wolfenstein’s “Can I play too, daddy?” mode

I think you’ve mistaken the Diablo 4 forum for Sims 4.

Are you off your meds?

I took most of them…

Hardcore mode, softcore mode, nightcore mode, anti-nightcore mode.

Gotta also be inclusive of people who want to go fast or slow

Don’t feed the hardcore pro roxxor gamer troll :slightly_smiling_face:

You do need to repair … Deaths result in Boss reset + 10% damage to gear + subsequent 10% reduction in bonuses from your gear’s stat’s … which is only temporary until repair.

you get gold thrown in your face all time. anyone who has played beta or server slam knows that even by lev 20, gold costs are already insignificant, no matter how badly you play you simply will always have more than enough to face whatever cost. get over it, if you want to pretend softcore has any significant consequence and that spending a handful of coins of which you have tons is comparable to permanent death with loss of your character and all gear and progress, you are simply lieing to yourself. nobody with a bit honesty towards themselves first, let alone others, can believe that.

No need to get mad, Wischa. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
I was just pointing out that there is some “downside”, albeit small, when you are defeated.

… and … Yes … I played all three Open Betas (i.e. Early Access Weekend in March, the following Open Beta Weekend, and the May Server Slam).

Interestingly, a comparison to The Sims is no longer viable. Sims die far too often these days. They can die from just about anything, including laughter, heartbreak, embarrassment, and other ridiculous things. It’s been a source of contention for players over the last few years. It’s almost impossible to create a couple, have some kids, and raise them to adulthood without having half the family die along the way from stupid things.

Or be like this guy lol

And after that, another layer below for IGN.

I thought softcore mode meant when you sat down at the local tavern you get free stein’s of mead and in hardcore mode you have to pay one gold piece for three stein’s of mead. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

To be fair to IGN, Redfall was horrible at launch and lots of what we thought that guy from IGN was doing wrong was just the game being terrible.

your idea of softcore mode is called god mode, or creator mode. its not usually a mode meant to experience the game, its meant for testing and other things.
