As stated somewhere Butcher is not uniqee demon. It is created of different parts. It is hell construct that can be recreated time after time. This is how his appearance in D4 was explained.

Demons cant be permanently killed. They eventually reform in the hells.

So butcher demons are a type of demon called an Overlord (which interestingly began life as angels who followed Inarius).

There are many butcher demons and they’re stitched together from the parts of other demons to combine their strengths.

‘The butcher’ is actually just one butcher demon, but he became known as ‘THE butcher’ simply because he became infamous and well known.

All instances of ‘the butcher’ is this same demon being resurrected.

I mean story wise there are reasons why Diablo resurrected. In Diablo the warrior Aiden took Diablo’s soulstone with himself when he killed him to try to contain him. That didn’t go well and Diablo ultimately took over in D2. Adria the witch also slept with Aiden and gave birth to Leah who Diablo was also able to use as a vessel.

We know at least two of the great evils will be back in this game (Andariel and Duriel) and it is possible Mephisto will be back. Who knows over time maybe all of them will show up in expansions. I would be surprised if Diablo doesn’t make an appearance.

The souls of all 7 of the greater evils were in the black soulstone that Malthael stole and all those souls were released when we defeated him so I’m sure they will all keep coming back.

already been proven they have.

Duriel the prince of Pain is known to be in D4.

so if 1 of them are free the rest are as well.

Hoping we get a Lilith confronting her dad bit.
