How are you supposed to navigate D4 without an overlay map?

Genuine question; how are you supposed to navigate D4 without an overlay map or some form of map size customization? I downloaded the game and was dumbfounded that there was no overlay map or way to customize the map size or make the mini map bigger or move it. How are you supposed to navigate and move without opening the full screen map to navigate and not take damage or die while doing so? The mobs continue to attack you while you’re trying to navigate the map. This is very troublesome for a new player experience.

We’ve been asking for this since day 1 and they still have yet to give it to us because people cry about other dumb things like the Harlequin crest not being the same color as the original one!

Genuine answer: You keep tabs on the minimap from time to time, or hit your map button in game periodically. I agree it’s not ideal, and we’ve been asking for this since the beta tests. Apparently it ruins immersion in a game filled with rogues who can move at mach 5 through enemies and live, sorcs who can bring down literal meteors from space on top of enemies, and druids who can turn themselves into beasts. Somehow an overlay is ruining that immersion.

Thanks for the tips! Hopefully D4 can make a compromise that’s not immersion breaking.

Thanks for the reply! Hopefully D4 Can make a compromise or change due to our map concerns. Its quality of life change for the better if we could have an overlay map or map customization options.

You get use to not having it. It would definitely be a nice to have.

how are u supposed to navigate in life without a minimap… do u wear google glass all day or something? i like to see the real world and game …
an overlay is a mess … and eventually all u focus on is the overlay

Overlay would be an option you could choose to use or not use, just like every other QoL feature in the game. By all means make sure to unbind the hotkey for a map overlay if they ever implement one.

If only that line leading you to the pin would appear on the game world so you never have to look at minimap while travelling.

My horse has built in navigation. I pin a location where I want to go, and the googlemount GPS shows me the way. :yum:

Would be nice if they could fix the “issue” with the map zoom changing when you enter and leave towns too.
A setting that sets the zoom level whenever you open the map, no matter what the zoom level was when you closed it.

I don’t care too much about the map. It feels easy enough to navigate without it.

Now, I dont think an overlay map is particularly good either. Better to improve the minimap then.

At least that part feels fully immersive!

With what they currently have the best you can do is put a pin where you are going and the mini map should be enough to get you there.

Uhh - look at the map and ride/walk/teleport to your destination.

Also, make use of map pins. Look at the map and right click your destination. The map will make a path for you to follow.

It cant get much easier.

How are you supposed to navigate D4 without an overlay map?

People have been doing it just fine for almost a year, do you need someone to hold your hand?

Just put a pin down where you want to go, and follow the line. But an overlay would be helpful sometimes in dungeons.
