I got to 60 and I just can’t do it anymore. It’s just mind numbing boring. I am a casual player, and I can’t do it. go to x kill x amount of mobs then run around hell tides and do it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. I’m probably not a hardcore grinder but this is also not the days of ff11 where you have to do the same task for 1,000 hours to progress.
I got to 61 so far and all I am doing is playing the game normally.
I am not mindlessly running nightmare dungeons over and over, not doing the same thing every time I log in.
I will go explore, pick up side quests to complete, do a legion event, or a helltide or some events for the tree of whispers.
Mix it up and just have fun.
im doing exactly that, but there are 3 events…and each one is boring as the next.
I don’t know.
In the beginning it was great, but when you learn what the game really is.
It gets boring.
I am now thinking that the level scaling is part of the problem.
The open world where it really doens’t matter much what you do.
I don’t know, in heavy doubt.
thats basically what i do, “oh lets go here” beat this mob, move on and so on and so on, then log off, or continue if i’m digging
That’s literally every game, video or not. You do the same thing in fps games. You do the same thing in rpgs. Hell, you do the same thing in baseball. If you’re not enjoying it, move on to something else.
I make a game out of it.
I go to the dungeon and time myself on how long it takes to kill all the monsters.
Then I start over and do it again trying to beat my previous time.
Except for some this will ALWAYS be the days of grinding the same task for 1000 hours.
It is for me and it always will be.
The leveling in this game is incredibly easy and should not be made much easier.
People just need to get it through their heads.
IT’S OK TO NOT HIT 100. The game does not require it.

in the beginning, WT4 dungeons gave chunks of XP. Now that they pretty much nerfed Elite density, it’s very slow paced. So yeah… it’s boring.
I did all the exploring and side quests on the way to 50, all that’s left is dungeon grinding. the world event aren’t interesting, and world bosses spawn too infrequently and aren’t a challenge.
I have been blasting the same dungeon(s) over and over from level 1 to 73, started doing NM now when I am in WT4… it is a grind for sure, wish the 1>50 was twice as fast.
That’s not necessarily true. The difference with those other games is that the experience changes. The rules are always the same but you never play the same game twice.
In Call of Duty you are always playing against different players who utilize different strategies and tactics even though they are using the same equipment as everyone else. All the rules are the same but it’s how players interact with those rules that makes the games more interesting.
The problem with Diablo 4 is that there is nothing interesting about the game. A lot of people are probably already going back to Diablo 2. Even though you are just going to run the same bosses, the same areas, using the same build you were using 15 years ago… The game will always be refreshing because there are so many different combinations of affixes that can appear on a rare item and there are runes and uniques that are incredibly hard to find but actually provide a meaningful improvement to the game.
Diablo 4 doesn’t have that.
Also, Diablo 2 makes you feel powerful when you reach a certain point and are tele-stomping everything including Diablo himself in under 3 minutes. You won’t be doing that in Diablo 4… ever.
Simple. I like the game.
Well for me it is because those of us that play arpg’s in general love the gameplay loop of it.
Once a build really gets rocking you are like a freight train clearing the mobs off the track.
If you like strategy and start doing higher and higher keys, those well above your level you start to introduce into this freight train ways to account for them being harder and harder.
If you just like story games you stop after that, you have had your 40 or 50 hours that most games don’t even give you these days. Everything else is just a bonus.
What I don’t understand is why people feel the need to tell others what they like and why the others shouldn’t like what they like.
Would you like to go over why I don’t care for your deodorant, the car you drive, your choice in clothes or what you do on the weekend? Would you even care what I think? No?
Well what makes these people think that we care if they don’t like it when we do?
I’m 66. So far, I actually enjoy the grind. Especially now that I completed the altars and renown crap. NM dungeons and the overworld stuff are fun for me.
I wouldn’t recommend trying to get to 100 pre season, just level up all classes instead to level 50ish, so you get a feel for what you like and what you don’t like… makes the character choice in season 1 so much easier.
I’m currently lvl 82, no issues except for the time available to play
“you have to do the same task for 1,000 hours” - welcome to arpgs
i got to 70 yesterday (and i wish i could continue but the game is down, cant login right now) and i’m a casual too… how am i kinda enjoying the game despite it being pretty monotonous and boring ?
thats easy to answer… set yourself a goal and then go achieve it ! i usually set myself smaller goals on the way to the bigger one (lvl 100) like i noticed theres a hidden armor set to be unlocked (seems to be hidden but maybe its just exclusive to wt4 idk yet i’m at wt3 and wanted to do the capstone dung today) and it looks spectacular so i set myself this as a goal… need to unlock the entire armor set before i “quit”
and through setting goals like that before wanting to “quit” i continue having fun… lets see if i ever reach level 100 lol
lvl 95 or 96 here - don’t remember, servers are down.
I’m not focusing at lvling or thinking about doing same stuff all the time. I’m enjoying the game buy checking my drop and doing what I want at given time. Sometimes including afk in towm and playing other games.
When I played beta I was against this game, after a a1 of live I started to enjoy it. Still I don’t think it is great game, I would say ok game, but my approach let me play and enjoy this game
