hordes material chest used to be decent for them. Haven’t really paid attention this season. Mostly I take the materials whisper whenever it’s available. Doing okayish on gems (but no grand gems)

Plus you can convert them now.
50k for a Witch Gem. For what the Witch Gems do, seems well worth it.

Infernal Hordes, exchange your Aether for Masterworking materials and Gems Fragments

sorry for my stupid questions. Does exchanging more Aether for the Gems Fragments chest in Infernal Hordes give more Gems? Or should I still open the wpn chest first and then give the rest to Gems Fragments chest?
Yes more Aether = more Gems and other materials. If you’re short on those items then use all of it on the materials chest. When you don’t need as many split between Weapons and Mats.

i do infernal horde quite a bit, and then just play the game which involves constantly scan which bosses are the whisper bounties so do them and undercity when they are bounties. Then I do Pit for glyphs…
I think NMD used to be good for gems, though I don’t do them anymore, also infernal hordes are decent if you open the middle cache.
The key point is, once you have the gems you need, use the NPC to transmute 3 of one type into another type to get enough to craft the amulets for the season journey. But I only crafted the amulets once i had all my gems/skulls for my gear.
I think you should keep opening the item chest just to get more scrolls for tempering. Once you have too many of those, you can put all your aether in the obducite/gems chest.
Keep in mind there are diminishing returns for high amounts of aether though.

Overall it feels like they have lowered the fragments in s8. Yes IH probably is still the best spot.
