Hota 1 shot Duriel

HOTA build.
How do you swap 8x times the weapons to get the bonus before Duriel to get the bonus dmg from aspect?

I have GF, Shako, i do like 200m max dmg but i see from other players numbers like 500m+
I am fully geared with 4/4 max rolls in items, but i think i am missing something important and i cant one shot Duriel.

Might be something else in your build, or you’re not lining things up properly. I can get 300M+ quite regularly without Grandpa or Earthstriker’s.

It only takes like 100M+ to 1 shot him.

Maybe your paragon board? Or are you maybe not using metamorphosis to apply vulnerable before the big hit? That makes a massive difference. The new varshaun ring helps too

actually duriel only has 50m life in solo. so 200m in a party of 4

I’ve 1 shot him under 200M in a 4 man.

That’s weird.

In my opinion, Earthstriker’s aspect (8x swap, 50%x damage) is way overrated. In some cases it can actually block you from using other aspects that may stack together for an overall larger multiplicative number.

I have a screenshot of my Barb hitting Duriel for 658 million. Here’s what I was using for aspects at the time:

Head: (Shako)
Chest: Numbing Wrath (+fortify—to top off just before overpower hit. It matters).
Gloves: The Expectant
Pants: (Tibault’s)
Boots: Ghost Walker
Amulet: (Banished Lords)
Ring #1: (Barb ring/Varshan)
Ring #2: Inner Calm
2 hand Bludgeon: Limitless Rage
OH #1: Ancestral Force
OH #2: Aspect of Elements
2 hand Slashing: Edgemaster’s

With this, instead of the swapping p.i.t.a., then running from mobs so you don’t ruin your setup, etc., you just do this—

  1. Get barb ring buff active
  2. Hit something 3 times with basic attack
  3. Hold still (no walking) at least three seconds before kill
  4. Time kill with 7 second +phys damage window (Aspect of Elements)
  5. Metamorph onto boss head
  6. Bonk

Easy. Also, you can kill stray mobs with basic if need be without ruining it. Just make sure some form of Overpower comes back on before the kill.

Another problem I see a lot of with folks struggling: People undervalue +max fury on gear and paragon. If you don’t yet appreciate this stat, take another look at Hota’s second upgrade on the skill tree. “Furious Hammer if The Ancients” (+1%x for every point of fury you had when you cast hota). Do you realize what that means? I can get my fury pool to about 260 right now. It’s full when I bonk. 260%x multiplier! Compare that to ANY aspect, legendary node, or glyph bonus. 13 times stronger than Edgemaster’s, for example.

Happy clapping.

There’s a trick to do it, I believe it requires two basic skills equipped but you can google it I’m sure.

I am aware of the two basic swap method. Again—P.I.T.A. Overrated and not worth it, especially for guys like OP who is just trying to get on his feet.

It’s just too easy to screw it up and too much exact science to worry about—especially in realistic scenarios like a PUG group that is speed running Duriel runs and doesn’t care about your setup, especially if you are still getting used to it.

I added the barb ring and it helped allot for the big crits
