It seems that a lot of new comers to the diablo franchise are upset about how seasons work. (or how they believe they do)
I would like to make sure that the Devs know that the players that have played diablo 2, 2R and 3 are pro-seasons. It is an important part of the game for me that brings me back and gives that “day 1” kind of experience with my play group. We are role new chars and start the grind again.
I think there may be a lot of fear as to a belief that new players have that they somehow lose items in season play. This is not the case. Everything you earn and gain in the season will become available to your “Legacy/Eternal/Normal” account after the season wraps.
I would recommend that at the very least before new players critique the seasons, they try actually experiencing one.
Roll a new char that you haven’t tried yet to start the season and see how things transfer at the end and then give feedback.
A lot of feedback seems to come from a place of ignorance or a lack of experience with the franchise.
Also, you do not need to participate in seasons. It is completely optional.
I have played every Diablo since the original and I have enjoyed the ladders/seasons from D2 and D3 etc. I can assure you, you don’t speak for everyone when you say we are all pro seasons. I dread the seasons in D4 because I have no desire to start over.
Hi, very long-time Diablo player here (I have played all since D1). Here’s my take:
The seasons, as you describe them, are fine to an extent. But what many people are hoping for is additional content, not additional ways to level, not even the need to level further. There are a few ways to do this. Blizzard could add seasonal narrative beats and quests (a la Destiny 2 or WoW). They could add new repeatable, scaling activities. They could add new items and skills. The key is that this should be accessible and fun for players using the characters they have spent time leveling from the beginning, if they want.
I played D3 seasons. They are not nearly as fun as people are making them seem. That format is dated, boring, and perhaps not as popular as you believe. That format is lazy, and it will lose a lot of the playerbase. You might not care, but Activision-Blizzard will.
More, if there is a version of the battlepass that we may purchase (and some have already purchased it without knowing what seasons entail), it shouldn’t necessarily be tied to seasons.
Many of the new players bought this game expecting a live service game. Why even play D4 if it’s just going to be the same deal as D3?
D3 paragons over time accumulate way more additional power than paragon boards ever can. Power difference between lv 60 and lv 100 in Diablo 4 will be lower than between Level 100 and Paragon 3000 in Diablo 3.
diablo3 you could get max level in an hour easily and start farming.
i just hope they fast track leveling in seasons. and paragon in d3 was minor very minor attributes. d4 at your missing boards and glyphs, legendary nodes… so 50 is not the start not even 70.
One of the first priorities should be adding social features e.g. global chat, LFG, auction house, automated matchmaking for dungeons. Maybe even 10-player raids.
You can get to level 50 within hour (and that’s without EXP bonus we will get during season). And as I said, power you get eventually from frakking +5 main stat being stacked 2000 times in D3 is bigger than what you will get out of 200 paragon points in D4
Honestly, if they just turned on the Battle Pass only on Eternal realm, they would shut up almost all complaints about seasons.
New mechanics/content should stay on the seasonal server first, that’s not up for debate, otherwise it would just be a few thousands trying to compete in ladder.
Same as D3, have someone powerlevel you in WT4. I seen powerleveling service going as cheap as 10 mills. Personally I really enjoy making new chars, so I am not into that sort of things and I am waiting for season to start first serious alt. But whatever floats your boat!
