Killing a screen full of mobs in one hit isn’t fun tbh. I can go play PoE for that. And even the PoE devs are trying to change it in PoE2. This is a typical situation of “the players have no idea what is good for the health and future of the game”.
If you increase the mob density instead of creating more meaningful and tactical combat with fewer mobs that give more exp, you will run into the following issues:
Only AoE skills make sense, single target skills will be dead
Game becomes speedruns with just running around, one shotting everything with 1 button press
You can no longer create meaningful enemy encounters with cool mechanics since everything dies in 1 hit
Visibility becomes a problem. Effects and enemy attacks can no longer be seen
You played arpgs before? That’s the entire point is slaughter screen fulls of enemies with flashy skills like lighting jav zon or blizzard. What are we wanting here? Are you like proposing a top down For Honor game?
< * Only AoE skills make sense, single target skills will be dead> Oh yea I see myself killing Uber Lilith with blizzards and frost nova … single target spell are super relevant still … please go play an action RPG or a soul like if you want to struggle vs each mob. Right now the game is in a state of a walking simulator, having to search for minutes before to find any elite pack is embarrassing and boring asf.
Bro, it takes me 5 secs to go from one mob to another. How does it take you minutes to do that? The only time I’m taking 20 secs to walk is to bring back the item to unlock the door….
What? yes it is, wanna know whats fun? Killing a lot of enemies at once, wanna know whats not fun? Running around like a jerk through a dungeon trying to find packs of like 5 mobs where 4 of them die in a few seconds then the last one takes forever to deal with.
I was trashing Helltide for mob density, oh how the tables have turned and helltide has better density than most dungeons.
Reading forums is more fun than playing lmao
You know what is more unfun. Seeing 3 monsters and saying. Not worth my resources to kill them. Then running past them till I have a meaningful amount to actually spend the resources I built up on.
Instead of a monster killer I’m a monster finder…it’s like they are all hiding. This is boring gameplay.
I don’t want to even press a button unless there are at least 10 creatures on the screen and honestly there should never be less then 10 creatures on the screen. I should be fighting through Seas of demons wondering if I’ll make it.
This is why bosses are important, and why it would be a massive mistake for them to not add more content oriented around them.
D3 suffered from this problem forever, and if they ignore it in D4 there’s a high likelihood I’ll be done, since I’ve already been through this ‘fight’ before (leaving feedback and making arguments for it, that is.)
Again, using that as an example is completely wrong. Just because there is density doesnt mean youll sit there pressing 1 button. Really though, have you actually played arpgs or diablo games before d4?
You clearly don’t understand exaggeration’s … ; Walking for 20- 30 seconds and only finding 1 elite pack and the rest are normal mobs is extremely boring. Some dungeon out there are just VERY bare on elites. Only reasons I loved champions demise so much, 30 sec walk = at least 5-6 elites. SO nerfing elite pack numbers is just plain dumb. It removes fun which is the goal a normal good game is supposed to be striving to achieve.
