Hi, I have 16gb maybe you need more memory but 16gb should be alright to play games.
Found source on the web.
8GB of RAM is the minimum amount of RAM for any gaming PC. With 8GB RAM you will be able to play most released games without many problems, but some games might not play at the highest quality, and you might have to shut down other applications.
“Sorry got little headache your talking about graphics card I have 12gb vram and 16gb of ram. maybe need to upgrade graphics card instead but I would probably wait. As Diablo 4 was just in beta and many users are experiencing problems with Nvidia cards or certain series. I can’t help with that as I am not using Nvidia.”
Apparently though the game is just “allocating” the VRAM and not actually fully utilizing it. I’m not really sure what this ultimately means but with 2 months of bug testing and performance optimization, I expect this to be fixed by full release.
My four builds so far all on high settings (besides textures), 1440p and different textures and yes the proper drivers, all custom builds no pre-built cheap parts:
2080 on medium textures - some massive frame drops down to 35-50 when entering new zones / towns / cutscenes. Typically 100FPS. This is an 8GB card.
3060 on medium textures - much less stuttering than the 2080. Maybe instead of dropping to 50 frames it would drop to 80 and typically 130FPS or so. This is a 12GB card.
I didn’t know VRAM was the issue causing this until too late to check how much VRAM was being used on medium textures.
3080Ti on high textures - even worse drops than the other two on medium. Dropping into 5 FPS at times, especially on cutscenes, but also upon entering new areas or town. Typically 144 background / foreground. 12 GB of VRAM is the culprit. Not enough for high texture settings.
4090 all max settings - 175 background / foreground (I have it capped at 175 since it’s my monitors refresh rate). No stutter at all. Never dropping below 175. BUT 21GB VRAM. Holy crap. Cutscenes dropped to 60 (I think) but I believe that is what they are capped at.
The amount of VRAM used by this game causes the stuttering when entering new zones or town, followed by flawless clean performance and it’s uncalled for.
This is not true at all. The 30 series cards (especially the 3080, 3080Ti and above) are powerful cards capable of running this game flawlessly with ease if it wasn’t for the VRAM utilization. The game stutters when you enter new zones or cutscenes, but other than that runs great. I doubt the 3090 would have any issues with the game as it has more VRAM than the 3080s.
I don’t know any other game that comes close to using this much VRAM. To put it in perspective, Cyberpunk on very high settings at 4K uses 9GB. On psycho mode 4K it uses about 12GB. Diablo 4 is using 21GB on 1440p widescreen, not even 4K, let alone 4K with 200% upscaling. This is not acceptable. Cyberpunk doesn’t hit this amount of VRAM utilization until you put it on 8K with psycho settings. Think about that for a second
Whether it’s just allocating it or not, it’s not doing something right clearly. All of my graphics issues were mitigated by increasing VRAM.
