I saw the suggestion for the high res pack was at 4k or Ultra settings.
I plan to play on Ultra but I do not plan to play in 4k. Any idea on the differences or if it’s even worth installing? It seemed like a strange description and made me unsure if they mean high res is only good for 4k and Ultra or either.

If you use it, great. If not, so what?
You can get it later if you want to.
Do we need the high-res for 1440p?
I think it’s more if you have a good video card and want to run on very high graphics settings.
The 4K honestly isn’t that relevant IMHO.
Read a lot of back and forth on this topic.
Conclusion: If you are not 4K or 2K and running ultra settings you will NOT notice it 99% of the time.
If you aren’t concerned with hard drive space install it. If you are, it’s not worth unless you are literally on the highest tier of graphics hardware including tons of VRAM.
This is a very personal question. Some people can’t even tell the difference between 60 and 144hz when you move a window around. I can tell when I just move the mouse ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Doesn’t hurt to try and if you don’t see a difference, get rid of it
Definitely diminishing returns as you increase the settings from high and beyond. If you can still run it at the maximum refresh rate of your screen with 0 dips, I’d say go for it. I paid for the whole GPU I have so I use the whole thing
… put the render % so it’s basically at 5K resolution. Could I tell the difference after playing a few hours from 100%? Not sure

I felt there was a noticeable difference in quality using the high rez textures at 1440p. Not a massive difference, but noticeable. I downloaded them and plan to use them again.
Unless you have limited data or awful slow internet that can’t download the game over 2 days… just download it and find out? Its wierd to me how many people are fussing over 40gb in 2023.

And was there much additional strain on your video card with the high res textures? Much noticeable difference in fps?
I’m sure it has an impact, sorry I don’t have any decent numbers on that since I’m old and cap my fps at 60 anyway since that’s totally fine for me. But my poor little 3060ti maintained 60fps at the highest settings with high textures at 1440p just fine.

It seems like a fair question to ask. If you’re not going to use those textures, even allotting the hard drive space for it is needless. Plus SSDs work better when they’re half empty.
Ok fair enough, my system is handling the base game at around a constant 220fps with everything turned up using a 144hz ultra wide so I might just give the high res pack a go
It’s not just about hard drive space which I agree is a non issue, it’s more about the potential performance decrease in using them of which there are not many bench marks etc available

I’m running 2K Ultra settings and I got the pack. But that’s just me.
