Is it normal for D4 to use 70% of my memory?? I use 32GB on my PC and I’ve heard of bugs with memory leak but I can’t be certain it’s what is causing my game to crash.
I’ve tried to reinstall it twice and even install it on a different drive and still crashes after it reaches high memory usage. I have Chrome open but only a few tabs open which should in no capacity create the problem.
The game is using a lot of memory yes. I suspect your system is showing 70% of its memory in use, but that won’t all be from D4.
Chrome can use anywhere from .5 to 3GB of memory, all by itself, depending on what you are doing or what websites you have up.
I typically won’t run browsers while playing, especially videos as they can cause issues. That’s true for many, but there are players that don’t realize its an issue.
The game has been demanding more memory since the VoH dropped. And this season increased its needs further.
That all said.
I have seen my system as a whole consistently use about 19-22GB (For everything AND the game) while playing, even after a few hours.
There are ways that I can play the game to force it to fill the memory completely full if wanted, but I don’t do this.
And I have a swap file allocated to a fixed size of 32GB, to help offset the Virtual Memory consumption. This game likes using the swap file, and the more memory your GPU has, the more it sticks in there.
As to whether its a leak or not. That has been the subject of debate. It shows signs of a leak. But its more of a memory management issue within the game than anything. Especially if you do multiple different things in rapid succession and/or if you have less than 32GB of memory.
If you play a particular task in-game for an hour, your fine. But if you start teleporting all over the map, or short tasks in different locations over a short period of time, you can run the risk of using more memory than your system can handle.
I get that but I’ve never seen these issues before. I played D4 since it came out and only seeing crashes like this since S7. I just installed the update hoping it would fix it but nothing changed
You might try going back to the 561.09 driver for the Nvidia cards. That might help. But no promises.
